Either special dividend of asset sale. So rns will be those holding as of close of play on x will receive. Probably that day. Most likely though an offer rns at x price and x share price that will be put to shareholders with board recommendation with vote/meeting on x. The share price will then go to that price that day. You can either sell for maybe 5% less than the share price offer or hold out to the sale on that day and get the full amount in your share holding account.

Another example 24th June 2019 the directors took shares not payment or fees. They wanted the shares. I bet they did this then as this is when the mooted sale started to take shape...........
