Awful lot more risk of pirates going round the cape, as the Suez is somewhat occasionally patrolled by UK Navy boats.
Based ona Google, and a post from T212 as of Nov 2020, they dont offer scrip but 'are implementing it'. Last time all holders got given the cash. Seems there was some confusion with the holders not realising that the cash value was 10x less than the scrip and were expecting 2p in cash.
Lat, I didn't say it was a good idea, I'm just saying you 'could' sell after ex-div date and still get the dividend.
HMSO is a case where 5th and 12th April are important dates, so no, you wouldn't sell in this instance.
The descriptions of ex div, record and pay date, along with selling if you like, is for any dividend share, its a possibiliy.
As others have pointed out, according to the sums, the NAV is 82p, we've already seen 42p, granted with some help from MS buying, but there is a positive outlook and once 100% of rents start rolling in we should be in a good place. Just a shame that its shorted so much and we took such a huge dive down last week.
Likewise lat.
I am planning to hold Moreno, I think the best is yet to come once shops reopen. there will be at least a month of shopping and UK focused buying before people even attempt to jet off elsewhere. Plus, if they are going somewhere warm, they will need all new clothes/holiday items. Massive demand.
The cash offer is far lower, and as mentioned, a lot of brokers aren't accepting scrip, so the decrease compared to most div offsets will be minimal, unless of course you have MS jumping off en masse after they get theirs
@Moreno
Perhaps they were talking about the previous dividend, there was one paid on 18th Dec.
For the upcoming one, you need to be a share holder before the 'ex div' date, which by 1st April, so buy/hold on 31st March. Ex Div date is the first date in which the shares are allowed to be traded without the right to receive a dividend.
Record date is 6th April where HMSO checks their books to see who is shareholder.
Pay date is 13th May.
Doesn't matter when you bought them, if you are holding on 31st March you will get a dividend, even if you then sell them 2-3 days later.
According to dividend.com, its a common misconception that shareholders need to hold through the record date/pay date, as its the ex div date that matters.
