Short interest was 6.81% yesterday, and 7.35% today.... someone really is taking a risk.
@Foz, you get 2p per share held, not given shares worth 2p
If you hold 8000 shares, you would get £160 scrip which are turned into shares, at current price (42p) this would equate to 380 new shares, minus any dealing costs.
At other guy, sorry, didn't see your name.
Increase in shorts could also be likely because they are so underwater with their other ones, they have opened more hoping it will go down to cover some of their losses previously. If it carries on going up, they are doubly screwed, unless we see short ladder attacks whereby the shorters sell back in pots of 100 every few msec to trick the markets into thinking people are selling and therefore will artificially decrease the price.
Shorts gotta be closing out. Volatility made HL show 47p briefly while it halted.... reset back to 41.6
Previous HMSO dividend, happened around about Nov I think it was. Exact same as this time, 0.2p cash or 2p scrip
I held with HL last scrip dividend. I got the scrip automatically without doing anything. HL sent me an in account message saying they were accepting the scrip on my behalf due to its increased value. I am assuming the same will happen this time.
Resistance at 40p it seems, bounced off a few times. We were very close at one stage too.
Looks like it hit a load of sell orders at £1.
Hopefully based on that guidance, a lot of shorts should close so they dont have to repay more than they borrowed
Its only been announced, it needs to pass a shareholder meeting before going ahead. If you buy/bought before the ex-div date, which hasn't been announced yet; then you will get the scrip.
Obviously if you sell between now, and dont hold any on the ex-div date, you wont get anything.
HL should automatically opt to accept the scrip (2p) on your behalf compared to the cash (0.2p) as it is significantly more.
No, not the same.
Scrip is a dividend payment of 2p per held share, to be given more shares. Or you can opt for a cash payment of 0.2p per held share.
Unless you have a considerable holding or want the cash, the 2p scrip is better. However dependant on broker, you may need to ensure they accept the scrip, and not the cash. HL did this by default last time.
It wants to go higher, but a lot of profit taking as expected!
Shorts seem to be getting worried that the results will be very positive. Someone has closed nearly 1%
Glad we're changing 'freaky friday' to 'fab friday' now!
Depends which way you want to hedge it.... apparently a retrace coming down the lines, so chance to bag a little profit. Schroders still have their large stake, so imagine it'll be heading back up at some point closer to YE results
