It’s plunging down even more now! With its success over the 2 years of lockdowns as they remained open they are now victims of Covid. Confidence in the public taking out big budget projects isn’t there now due to cost of living.
For the city only thinking of 2022 is very shortsighted. The uncertainty of this market keeps it down at the moment but adding on billions of debt and the potential the huge pay out (in which we should assume won't change as if it decreases or better it'll only be a bonus)
COVID hit Cineworld at precisely the wrong time. Optimism was announced back in March this year by them as it looked like Covid had abetted but nothing really has changed accept the amount of deaths and hospitalisations.
I can't see why the price will go up. The shear amount of debt the company is in and the unlikely (according to the city) appeal will be in favour and with never ending issues with coronavirus makes CINE a potential sitting duck for a buyout elsewhere.
I am in the same boat hoping but I think the company will be getting eyed up from others after the appeal / virus
If the appeal gets upheld then high chances they have to find a buyer as Cineworld is in so much debt as they were expanding then Covid hit causing even bigger debt issues.
It’s the doubt of what the variant will bring. It may give mild symptoms but we definitely know it’s so much more transmissible so more people who catches will put more pressure on nhs automatically
Revenue maybe up on 2019 but what is the lfl in the customer count as prices / wages / rent / utility bills have increased.
First new variant or concern of the winter. They'll be more like the 4 which came last winter. SP should go down further if they do appear. Start buying now.
Scotland announcement yesterday shows they have backed down what they were going to do ie passport entry into any public place except shops. NI not doing too much masks, working from home (already the advice in Scotland) Wales is a little stricter and England still trying to go with no / little guidelines.
Europe could suffer badly though because of which type of vaccine as AZ shows a longer protection and this could be Europe's issue, if true An increase in the spread could come here but with the booster programme well on its way it should be limited.
Only 4 weeks to Christmas this Friday and if Europe can cope then we shouldn't see lockdowns if not then can cine cope with another hit? I think that's why the sp is going down as the city is nervous is won't.
Weren't you saying weeks back it was going to 70 then 80.
This is going to take a long while.
Mountainous - I agree but with news media suddenly ramping up the stories of hospitals being full and non jabbed people passing away, this brings fear for the city analysts and public opinion will be hesitant.
It's the winter which will decide the outcome and hopefully not every winter!
If one of the reasons is lockdowns, I would think it's more from the Covid passports which is being more proposed. I'm in Scotland where we get told today what the next step in restrictions is going to be. Most likely cinemas, hospitality will get this draconian measures.
However if this doesn't work they will close them early or just close them.
Sadly it'll take till after winter I feel until we know.
I missed the end there. I assume it'll take weeks for her to make a decision as it's got to be fully documented her reasonings.
As I've said before, it's all about putting doubt into the evidence and being convincing with the facts of the doubt. I'm thinking it'll be spilt with Cineworld coming slightly worse off even not financially.
Any thanks for the more grown responses. Just was looking for opinions.
I do get curious with this fast forward into digital age because of the pandemic etc.
I love the cinema experience personally. (Not the snack prices lol)
It will be about there's no question about that. The shape and size it'll attract will change with ever modern technology into even the home tv experience and with devices growing in size and memory, more look at those.
Bc2020 what actually is your reply to my question or is it just abuse you can hurl? Nobody can give a discussion?
Bc2020
Not a joker and no need to hide by saying that. Of course investing is risk. I'm not disputing that. I merely asking opinions on future of the cinema? No need for nasty replies.
Bc2020
Never said lockdown only restrictions would again come back.
If the rise continues, it'll put people off regards if nothing happens.
Gmoney - never knew this even existed.
It's a genuine question so is there any need of abuse?
I've been an investor in cinema for quite a while pre COVID etc.
However I've constantly wondered is there a future? IMO this winter will bring back certain restrictions and with the losses since COVID and the rise in streaming, is there a need for those huge cinemas?
Doesn't help when Cineworld ceo wants to show Netflix?
I'm new to actually posting but what I really find odd is you openly said you hadn't read any posts and didn't know what's been happening to go on and say we all think the price is to drop to lockdown levels again?
Sounds like you scaremongering or won't doom on the more upbeat members?
Can you provide some evidence as to why you think it'll drop so much?
Also if you're genuine, buying shares isn't always about trying to get rich quickly, it could take many years and even just stay level what you invested.
