I know this news story broke last week but don't think this paper was shared. This really is excellent news because people ought to be happy to test as opposed to isolating. And now we cover all angles maybe we can package a nice box with the 2 PCR's, 7 LFTs and a free - help us get to £54 sticker.
If communities maintain vigilant testing and tracking, it may be possible to bring the number of new cases so low that health officials can identify any new introduction of the virus and immediately stifle a potential outbreak, said Bary Pradelski, an economist at the National Center for Scientific Research in Grenoble, France

Hi all,
Time to enjoy the bank holiday weekend. I'm exhausted following this stock. If you fancy a bit of light-hearted financial learning over the weekend please have a listen to my new podcast Financial Freeman. See you on Tuesday (not that I'll be able to refrain from checking in on the board until then). https://open.spotify.com/episode/0jCgMnog6reWc0Hn8xU9eK?si=ekh1yAIeTI2bJNXKh7AYbg&utm_source=whatsapp

Looks like Indian variant(s) is spreading rapidly
Shearclass / Prop5 - kudos on calling the gap. I'm not interested at trading at these silly levels but out of interest would you be kind enough to say how you saw the gap - even with the benefit of hindsight I'm struggling!

This is interesting, it was only just before Christmas 2020, when the UK’s COVID-19 pandemic was well into its second wave, that Novacyt was asked if it could use its skills in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) genotyping to develop an assay to identify the then-emerging UK variant (20I/501Y.V1 or B.1.1.7) - who asked them, UK gov?
I also like this - Besides use by governments, healthcare providers and private companies, VariPLEX™ has tremendous scope for pharmaceutical companies to assess the efficacy of their vaccines.
Message on LinkedIn (liked by GM): Inquire at sales@attogene.com for bundles for a free q16 or q32 instrument (while supplies last) with the purchase of 50 or more COVID 19 or COVID 19 variant SNP detection Kits.
If only there was an alternative investment that may prosper from this latest development...
The FTSE 100 fell sharply on Tuesday, taking it back below 7,000, as global markets were dragged lower by growing investor concern over the Indian variant of Covid-19 and sliding tobacco shares.
The blue-chip index dropped by 2% or 140 points to close the day at 6,860, led by the British Airways owner, IAG, amid fears over renewed travel restrictions and as shares in major tobacco firms fell on the prospect of tougher rules being introduced by the Biden administration.
It was the worst day for the FTSE – which had risen above the 7,000 mark on Friday for the first time since the pandemic – in two months.
Shares in IAG fell more than 8%, while the jet-engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce fell by almost 6%. Wizz Air, FirstGroup and the cruise operator Carnival were among the biggest fallers on the FTSE 250, reflecting renewed investor fears about prospects for travel.
Joshua Mahony, a senior market analyst at the financial trading platform IG, said: “European markets have been hit hard today, with rising global coronavirus cases serving as a timely reminder that the pandemic is far from over despite recent vaccination progress.”
Bowtie,
To me it is implausible that GM and the BoD don't get the broad message that good news is required. Their silence will be for a reason. Either:
a) there is more bad news to come and they don't want to put any good news out because it will get overshadowed by the bad news
b) T/O
c) they are focusing on building out a mid-cap diagnostics co., implementing all the new personnel and making the most of their first mover advantage knowing the sp will eventually come good.
Option a) is of course plausible but I can't think what else there can be out there to make matters worse (would be good to hear of any genuine possibilities). So that leaves b) and c) both of which will do wonders for the sp. I'm personally punting for c) but not ruling out b) in the mid - long term

Data up to yesterday so I suspect there will be more SA cases following surge testing.
