There has been, for this share, quite a lot of sales in the last 2/3 weeks . Mainly lots of 1000 but sometimes more but no substantial buys recorded. With the sp holding up well I wonder where they have all gone, certainly not on the Mm’s books? Any ideas?
Nice to see a decent hike up today but also a bit strange. On this site it gives the details of only 2 trades but on the header tells us there have been 15. If there has been that number, very encouraging, not only filling the freezers with pies but the boots with shares.
Well done Rivaldo, great find! Working 3 shifts per day is very good news and when the panic buying slows down they will pick up more business from their erstwhile smaller accounts- Iceland being one.
The steadiest share on the market! Very tempted to buy more but prudence tells me I have enough. Should never have married her!
Thanks Rivaldo. Excellent news, not all plain sailing for Shire but they seem to heading in the right direction. A very conservative valuation would add another £4m to the asset value..
Thanks Rivaldo. I decided not to tender any and am happy to continue with the Landers. If they can’t find a suitable acquisition no doubt the rest of the cash will be returned , probably after Shire has been sold. No downside!
In response to mjb I don’t know what to do! I have quite a decent holding in an illiquid company but the track record is so good i am tempted to stick with them. I haven’t worked out the figures, too lazy, but would guess the buy back price is below asset value and could be a decent discount if a more optimistic view is taken of Shire.
If I surrendered a large percentage of my shares I wouldn’t have a clue what to reinvest in, anything is likely to be more risky than Volv. Not very helpful comments I admit and I am sure we would all like to see what Rivaldo thinks.
Firstly I join Ages in thanking you for your always helpful contributions to this rather lonely BB.
When I was reading about the sale but before I got to the end I was guessing that 1M would be a very reasonable result!
The Launders are quite good!!! Where now? Without knowing them the obvious would be to sell Shire and liquidate the company or reverse into a bigger entity which needs cash. I suppose it depends on how ambitious they are.in any event well worth staying on board for the ride, the downside is virtually zero.
Many thanks for your report, much appreciated. The outlook for our two businesses is certainly looking more promising. If they were to sell Shire reasonably soon they will be so stuffed with cash that they will either have to totally liquidate the company, agree a reverse take over or make a significant investment, larger than any done before.
I agree the shares are cheap but the huge spread puts off potential new investors.
We could well see a boost to the sp if holders reinvest the dividend as I have just done. If we were hoping for an eventual t/o at around 45p the equivalent percentage gain from the current price is much greater than from the cd level and with a much larger number of shares if reinvested.
What a quiet board! Happy New Year to all. There seems to have been a marked increase in small buyers over the last 2 days, I wonder if some broker or mag has tipped them?
The shares have held up well in the market sell off but where is the company going. If they sell Shire we become a cash shell and then do they go for a much larger acquisition or perhaps even a reverse take over?
Any thoughts? Rivaldo?
David, if a poster gives a sweeping statement such as came from Swallows I think I am allowed to ask for clarification albeit I may have so requested in a rather flippant manner. If that it is what caused your rebuke I apologize.
For me,I do have a significant holding, have not checked my anatomy and feel I am not too stupid. You state the risk profile is off, two ffs please, the chart. Could you please explain and further, what should be nipped in the bud?
Maybe I am more stupid than I thought.
I presume a host of our regular followers made the trip to the AGM today. The result of the meeting has been published, hugely informative! The current half year is almost completed, it is not asking much for the shareholders being given a slight clue as to how their business is progressing- it is our company not the BODs albeit one director does have a large stake.
Not sure about the company buying back share at “a good solid rate”. 5 purchases in May
totaling 125000 and nothing for over a month. As I have mentioned before the only strategy the BOD seem to have on that score is not to have one!
The slight weakness in sp over recent times mirrors the fall in the zinc price and commodity shares generally- nothing to be concerned about.
