Well it seemed to be holding up there , I am sure there was a broker sell notice reiterated yesterday , but nothing new - I have seen nothing on the on going investigation either which might trigger this either. I'm holding firm , got to believe in something!!

Keeps rising....market knows something...

I have a strong feeling this is not the end of the t/o buyout saga. We are all mostly happy with the recent upward movement.....but....the market is not often taken by surprise especially when rumours of a major event are on going. You may work for the company and that you rate them highly enough to invest is good. However how well do you know them? Are you sure they wouldn't take the company into private equity , especially as you say they are performing well and ready to start selling again , surely this is the time to be buying or holding....or in the case of a private equity bidder the time to buy. Lets face it some of the best run and most profitable companies are privately owned , and this is because the most profit is to be made when you do not need to answer to the pesky shareholders or be held to high accounting standards by an exchange authority... And as for the old guard being replaced....the CEO has never changed from day one.

SO where are we with this? Rumours of a buy up/out , price rises and holds firm...then a down grade to a hold from J P Morgan, are they trying to push down the price so it can be purchased more cheaply? I'm holding on , gotta go for a premium to take this cash cow off the exchange.

So the market hasn't discounted the private equity buy then judging by the price holding up...so anyone have an opinion ?

So would this be a complete sell out by the current management or be led by the management...CEO Harpin still owns a large chunk of stock....MBO because its a cash cow? Don't be selling out too soon!! There could be more than this, what do you reckon 25% premium oer market price?

Honestly this goes on , as a shareholder and a tax payer I am pretty disappointed in the investigation process - what are they trying to prove? I mean they have made a provision which suggests HSV will take the punishment and get on with business so why not get on and report the decision?? Makes me sooo angry. But in other news they expanding the US operation witha recruitment drive of a further 100 in the Chattanooga call centre , what does that suggest? Good US business = money = profit = dividend = share price increase. AT least this is how my simple mind works.

Sell? Really , profits written down until 2014/15 and yet share price bumps only about 5%...still awaiting result of the the longest FSA conclusion ever. UK jobs binned , restructured to more overseas where there is less regulation...and more profit and bigger markets. Hold I think makes more sense not panic selling as IMII would suggest. Also as money flees the banks in fear of being taxed some will end up in equities including this one.

Anyone see the article in the ES recently? I am sure it was the ES correct me if I am wrong....suggesting HSV to be arrogant for making no provision for a fine from the FSA...Do the ES know that there is a fine pending or if HSV did make a provision would that not appear to be presumtuous and therefore also arrogant? Also how much of a provision should be made? Anything between 50p and £50m would be a fair bet surely. Any opinions?

Typically I took a little profit out of this on Thursday , I should have waited another day....still it has financed the purchase of new car , a massive turkey (the bird variety not the car) , a little holiday for me and the girlfriend ( of the bird variety but not a massive turkey either,,,,). Many festive treats to you all

but I still have a generally good feeling about this , just keeps creeping up ever so quietly...now watch it crash as i have posted...sorry

Homeserve advanced 12 to 235.2p, with one dealer suggesting hedge funds were closing positions following new shorting rules. Homeserve shares have risen for three consecutive days, after credit card insurer CPP revealed on Wednesday that US group Affinion had made a preliminary takeover approach. Both CPP and Homeserve, itself the subject of summer bid rumours, are being investigated by the Financial Services Authority. Liberum Capital said this week that the news from CPP “challenges the assumption” that a potential buyer would not look at Homeserve with the uncertainty from an FSA investigation hanging over it.

I'm not complainng of course but I have no idea...maybe storm damage equals lots of insurance work or something , lots of volume

Please tell me these storms in the USA mean lots of work for the US business and therefore increased profits....

Jarcon , thank you for that observation , I tried to keep quiet but I can't it is bl**dy typical when we get warm and fuzzy about this stock it reminds us who is in charge. So I shall try to be positive but as quiet as a chuch mouse

Gringo , I agree , No one went bust taking a profit... not legitimately anyway. It'd be nice to have some news from HSV over the weekend , or maybe a positive leak from the FSA or some news on overseas affinity partners just to give this a little more of a boost. Like you say institutions are happy to stay in this , so should we be. Mind you if this keeps going steady at this rate I will remain happy.

Rockhard , if you have a handsome profit there is no shame in taking it...personally I'm a bit more of a mid-term holder. I was in this when they were still part of South Staffordshire water and did OK with it., still wish I had not been scared to put all my eges in one basket when i bought in at 140p. I have countless stories where I have been too chicken to go heavily into something I believed in and when I am annoyed with pulling out too early....ask my ex-wives!!
