Biden bans Russian oil imports
US President Joe Biden has banned Russian oil imports, toughening the toll on Russia's economy in retaliation for its invasion of Ukraine.

The latest, reported by Associated Press, follows pleas by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to cut off the imports, which had been a glaring omission from heavy sanctions packages put in place by the West.

Energy exports have kept a steady influx of cash flowing to Russia despite otherwise severe restrictions on its financial sector.

The latest came as Russia threatened to cut all gas supplies to the West if there is a ban on Russian oil imports.

Meanwhile, Shell today said it plans to withdraw from Russian oil and gas and stop all spot purchases of Russian crude oil in response to the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The oil giant has also apologised for buying a shipment of the oil last week at low prices, saying the decision was "not the right one".

Ended up which is a good start, long way to go but think with the impending dividend which will bring in buyers and shorts close as they've had their time should see a big squeeze next week. This is a huge multinational business with sizeable assets and plenty of cash.

sound like putin is realising that he is isolating his country with further economic sanctions - his tone is changing and will come to table to ensure a ceasefire which is in the best interests for all.
