News of a contracting economy can affect people's spending decisions, future plans, wellbeing etc. It becomes a vicious circle.

News of an expanding economy has the opposite effect. It's a virtuous circle.

There is a world of benefit from the economy growing 0.something% compared to shrinking 0.something%

0.2% might be small if you're looking at the interest rate on a savings acct, when its the UK economy, it's huge !

The economic data BEAT economists predictions very comfortably.

We didn't narrowly avoid anything !

GDP Month on month, predicted 0.1% - actual 0.50%

GDP Year on year, predicted 0.1% - actual 0.40%

And every other metric reported today is better than "economists predicted".
