240k shares?? Wow! I've been taking advantage of the dip again, I only have 40k in my ISA but I'm down to 64p average price. I'm not expecting anything great in April I'm here either for a long term hold (many years) or capital event etc

I just bought another £5k so it will definitely fall further. :P Fine with me though, new ISA year soon so I'll have another £20k to go in soon.

Think you mean FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) not the FSA (Food Standards Agency)...

The FCA require information to be disseminated to the media in full text and in a manner that is capable of being disseminated to as wide a public as possible, and as close to simultaneously as possible in the United Kingdom.

THG posted the news story on thie official website and possibly put out a press release. No RNS doesn't mean anything, they fulfilled their obligations.

However, I do agree with you that no one should expect a large jump in revenue from this deal. Definitely not soon. Companies have to sign up to the new service, the fee THG will get will be very small and will take many years before the system is adopted enough to provide any significant revenue. Still, it's a great deal and as a shareholder I'm very happy about it.

Listed companies obviously have disclosure obligations but they are not obligated to use the RNS system for it. So the only thing you can read into it is that Matt Moulding seems to really not give a s#!t

I'm aware of what unsolicited means thank you. You're wrong in equating an unsolicited bid with a hostile bid.

A hostile bid is a type of takeover bid where the acquiring company presents a tender offer directly to the shareholders to buy their shares at a premium. The acquiring entity does not go through the board of directors because they rejected the offer or they are against the acquisition.

As they presented the offer to the board of directors first and did not present the offer directly to shareholders, the bid was not, by definition, a hostile bid.

The bid was not hostile. It went to the board not directly to shareholders.

If THG just outright sold a division, then we would still just have 1 holding in "THG" but the value would go up massively as they would receive more cash than the entire market cap of the company.

If, in theory, THG separated into 3 separate listed companies, we would end up with shares in 3 separate holdings that the "market" would value separately. If THG spun off one division then we would have holdings in two companies, with the original THG holding reducing in value equal to the value of the spun off division, similar to when a dividend is paid. Then the price would adjust to what the "market" deems appropriate for the two separate companies.
