RE: China Mortgage Boycott Data Erased by Censors as Crisis Spreads17 Jul 2022 21:00
Telegraph Money reported in August last year that households paying for energy deals marketed as “100pc renewable” could get as little as 3.7pc of their energy from renewable sources.
The rest could be produced by burning fossil fuels, with the company buying a certificate, known as a “Rego”, which allows it to claim the tariff is green.
In its Decarbonisation Action Plan, Ofgem said renewable tariffs are becoming increasingly popular as consumers try to play a role in fighting climate change.
It added: “It is critical that consumers can trust that tariffs marketed as green will in fact make the expected positive impact for the planet, for example by stimulating additional investment in renewable generation.
