Very good and level headed advice Wyn. I'm down 1% and I do have a plan to avg down once the spud rise brings this share over .27. I'll sell 1/2 at the increase and hold the other 1/4 longer term. I'm reasonably confident the rise to my target will occur.
Hi Wyn, I'm fairly new, only been trading for about a year. I'm not really wanting anything but general conversation and other's opinions. No reaction to my post would sway me either way. I'm in like most here and eagerly awaiting spud time!
I'm invested in this 10.000 shares, which is peanuts to a lot of you , but it's still money I'd rather not lose. I find it worrying that the date has moved a couple of times and that, all of the sudden, news has waned somewhat. I thought, by now, we'd have a more exact date on drilling commencement. I know that it's common for delays to occur but it doesn't alter the fact that I am concerned. Anyone as concerned or am I just letting my pessimistic side take control...???
Nah Fort, I won't lose sleep either way. I'm in with a hefty amount at 18p avg. I never have sold all of my shares, just a percentage which I reinvest during dips. I won't take my foot out of the door as I want to be in when this does go, and it will closing in on drilling!!
I researched further into this. I, as you, can't always trust Wiki but I do trust a famed Latin scholar. ST is right, sharing knowledge is NEVER unfortunate and creates enlightening discussion. I'm not being sarcastic when I thank you for sharing your knowledge. Latin scholar, Maria S. Marsilio points out, “carpe diem” is a horticultural metaphor that, particularly seen in the context of the poem, is more accurately translated as “plucking the day,” evoking the plucking and gathering of ripening fruits or flowers, enjoying a moment that is rooted in the sensory experience of nature. “Gather ye rose-buds while ye may” is the famed Robert Herrick version. But I shouldn't be pedantic over this meaning, it's pretty much seize the day as you say. Seize, pluck... I don't care if I seize a lot of money or pluck it- either or is fine with me :)
obstando, this is an exert from Wiki. I found it pretty interesting! Thanks again...
Translation
Carpe is the second-person singular present active imperative of carpo "pick or pluck" used by Horace to mean "enjoy, seize, use, make use of".[2] Diem is the accusative of dies "day". A more literal translation of carpe diem would thus be "pluck the day [as it is ripe]"—that is, enjoy the moment or use the day. It has been argued by various authors that this interpretation is closer to Horace's original meaning [
I like the way you're thinking Seagulls. I have read quite a bit and what you're saying falls in line with others. I am a little more pessimistic thinking, on the flip side of the coin, that things don't turn out quite as well as we hope. In that way, I have been cutting the risk by buying and selling within the current range, but making certain I keep a foot in the door. I'm not an all or nothing type- wish I could be sometimes but it's not my nature. I've managed de-risking pretty well so far. I sold a small portion of my shares at 22p yesterday and looking to buy back in over the next week. 2p /share is a nice profit when you're holding a fair sum- That gives me more cash to buy on the dips.
Lol, had to look up Carpe Diem... (Pluck the day [for it is ripe], trusting as little as possible in tomorrow.)” Hope that doesn't fit here as I'd like to trust what tomorrow brings with this SP!!! I get what you're referring to though. It's food for thought. Thanks for the lesson in Latin! I believe it's Latin anyway.???
Yep, realise all of that obstando, just making general conversation w fellow shareholders just to see the general feel in the room right now. I think we're all excited at the possibilities. I do have a significant order in at 20.5 and a smaller one for 20p . I'm already in with a decent amount at a 18p avg. Wish I was like some that got in pre 10p!!!
IMO, I think 16p would be a nice entry point but I don't think it will crash like that unless the first drill comes up empty. I've set an order at 20p and some at 20.5. I don't think in the short term that is a lose situation, who know in the long term but I believe in the companies fundamentals.
ST and Seagulls, thanks for your opinions. I know there is no way of knowing but it's interesting to see your views. I like the sound of £1 a share but realise this is all speculation as there is a chance that they find helium and there's the undesirable alternative also. Hoping the first option is the one! Thanks guys :)
