ODONNELL, understand your predicament and you/we are invested to make something. Gold at the moment, cannot make up it's mind to go up, so it will float down until another catastrophe or Trump Brainwave. In other words, gold needs fear and of course we are waiting for the FED to decide on their interest rates again. Will they raise again as they said they would or also be fearful of a world wide recession (it will be world wide!) as all struggle to pay their debt? Already I get daily briefs on the inversion of the 2 & 10 year yield curves and how the SPX has topped!

Worrying, sometimes the things I read about attitudes in SA. The gulf between various peoples is so, so big! For example: Rupert has an interview in which he speaks from his heart and he get's lamblasted for not being more astute at what he says. It blows me away! Yet, Malema and the BLF guys want to shoot anything with a white skin and yet nothing happens! This atmosphere (not understanding capitalism, western type) can only serve as a caution to investors not to invest in SA. Poor old Julius Nyerere had made Tanzania bankrupt with his wise ideas on "socialism", and I wonder if this lot also want to nationalise the lot?

Watch Pokerchips, the Fed will not (raise interest rates)! It might tell us they have hit a brick wall if this happens and Trump may have to borrow that wall, LOL!

Long may it last! So much written about how undervalued Ag is and the Gold/Silver ratio! By all accounts and my reading there is a shortage or rather an imbalance of silver, correct? Is that the way you guys see it? Unlike gold, this PM is most useful for Industrial purposes and use UP!

What a down trend it's been Mr Barnes! POG may have turned, hope for real? Anyway, one of the big negatives has always been the question of VAT and the "bad relationship" of certain miners with Tanz govt. The Miners in this region could fly if this changed, imho!

Nice Timmy! So if you have done your research and happy to invest in murky territory, that's pleasing! Agree, PAF is undervalued and when PM's run, this success story (for SA Mining) will do well. Not too long ago, I did well when she was above the 20's! Not impossible with world volatility, imho soon!

ODONNELL, sadly I have Africa in my Bone Marrow/blood and am saddened by recent events there which, I have to own up, don't look good. So I worry for the long-term survival of my family. It's a tough continent to survive in!

I liked the article posted and agree.Gold Mining is fading way in SA, the power of the unionised work force is immense and just like the president who could not count and the 60 or 70% those in parliament with criminal records, surely influences mining as investment comes from outside SA mostly. But those mines described are deep old mines, perhaps we cannot compare?

One wonders the present direction of corrupt leaders. The stakes are high. But the higher the stakes, the more the gain, I hope!

I have not broken even here but see that if the POG goes northwards, I hope to make something before there is more evidence of complete collapse in Southern African governance. A window of opportunity perhaps? Or will there be a move away from the anc in next year's election? Not likely!

PAF is still worth a punt, We need the luck of the Irish as they say! LOL! Not talking the share up but looking at it from a helicopter view. Got the resources, well managed and producing the goods! Now for some leverage (the word that escaped me!)

ODONNELL, I hear what you say and makes sense but, I would not be surprised if SA investor take a lead on PAF and see a brighter future and much higher sp especially if POG keeps moving upwards. After all, it makes PAF more profitable but gives investor both a hedge (in SA) and returns in dividend they may want. Profits rocket in gold shares for every $ rise above the AISC, don't they? What's that word to describe this again? LOL! I am blank!

Herbieridesaga, there are so many explanations as to why POG will go up! The fact that the FED has been caught out, there may not be further rises in Interest rates in the USA, the 2,5 & 10year treasury curves inverting, the short supply of $'s, volatility with Brexit and the Trump vs China Trade war (nothing will happen in 90 days! imho!
I'd say Zim as an African Country is a better bet that SA right now where some expect an economic implosion - no electricity, a land grab problem and looks like a failed state - nothing works and all stolen with massive debt etc...
So, I am prepared to say CMCL is a great bet with POG definitely going up!

It is worrying that from the many jokes about ESKOM (the sole power monopoly maker and owing R400 Billion or there abouts) the truth is that things could go horribly wrong overnight in SA if that economy was reduced to Candle dependence! It would mean a Venezuela or equivalent in the making! Already the discontent of the instituted (illegal imho) land expropriation without compensation is immense! Then there is a surge of farm murders. These event add up to indicate a "failed State", very worrying! There are of course many other examples I could pad my statement up with! I am treading very carefully with any SA share and it includes this one! Mulder may made a point for other reasons the other day. My little insight and opinion is perhaps a lot more serious!

Funny how old Oom Paul Kruger is still with us! ZAR, LOL! Not quite the anc rand but soon might be! Like all SOB's will probably be a rock bottom currency! All gone!
