Yip, I hear that illegal miners are running riot in the whole of Southern Africa. (Zim diamonds and under Johannesburg literally!!!) Not sure if this is indeed true or just an opinion? But, there is definitely a problem at our Baberton. It worries me that the police action or rather law and order is so poor that apparently no coherent action seems to happen. What have you heard or read? Is this something for us PI's to worry about? Is the cost of security reflected in our annual reports?

I find it incredible that there is such a poor market response to a jump in the POG. In this case = PAF, only 2% up this morning. Yet it seems the POG is now firmly entrenched above 1400 and will probably shoot past 1500 very soon with further (bad) news! The herd will be running this way - to good miners very soon, must be!

Yip, Dreamboatwarrior. Price just seems to be cruising at a more or less fixed range. We need our little problems resolved - taking out of Cornerstone, an offer from somebody big NM has to consider seriously, or POG or Copper to move northward. I hear from friends miners are leaving Zambia (Copper belt mines) as the price of copper has affected mining (there) negatively. The talk - world wide is about magnificent sums invested by the likes of VW, Mercedes, the Chinese etc... into electric vehicles for a start. It cannot be long before there is a serious mismatch of supply and demand for copper, imho! Nice that we are not pounded by the xray man, given us a welcome break! While we wait......!

Before settling down to the 1345 level, a $50 spike must mean Au is going to the moon quite soon! FED looks to be heading for a rate cut 100% in July then ZIRP and QE4.
Worrying factors here at PAF for me are: Illegal mining and it's consquences at Barberton and in fact at all SA mining sites, no rule of law.

The dire anc rule or no rule and the faction fight zumites versus cr's gang.

Zoros, thank you for that info. Yes, development always comes at a cost. But, if done correctly - clearly Solg/Cascabel are sensitive to this issue hence a Block Cave Type mine plus have always been environmentally conscious. Sadly we live in a (modern) world where survival does depend on earning a penny. No pennies means hardship! Immense improvement of the standard of living for possibly many thousands of Equadorians if mining get's the right signals from a positive constitutional outcome cannot be under estimated.
Equadorians have made many mistakes regarding the environment already. The destruction of vast areas of mangrove forests near Guayaquil for prawn farming was highlighted on BBC just a few days ago. But, we don't necessary have to repeat such destruction and formal mining is their best chance to regulate and score from much needed development. Sincerely hope this pronouncement is "for us", LOL!

All of us reasonable folks come to same conclusion, a country like Equador would do itself serious economic damage if this case goes again the grain. As Dreamboatwarrior writes financial, human environmental catastrophes could be the consequences.
We will come through this - I am no longer sweating under the armpits, LOL!
