It looks like Samsung placed orders for I phone 12 screens from BOE and some have ended up on the us market. Happens fairly often in China. Place an order for 100, 000 they make 200,000 and sell the extras on the grey market. Difficult to see its worth the effort unless it's not a one off.

Screen learner, Nanoco are trying to bring a new technology to existing markets. Display, Solar, medical, wearable etc. The pull through is performance, cost, environmental. The barriers are numerous, initial costs in development capital expenditure.
Samsung incorporating our IP has shown its a commercial proposition, Wah Hong was a 7 year agreement and still in place as far as I can see, but I don't know if they have any customers, and probably would pay anything while litigation was in place.

Nanoco's USP is we can supply CFQD to any market we're not reliant on one sector. One company in dispay has taken the tech to market share, others must follow. The deals will come.
My guest is the Samsung settlement reflected the development, set up parameters and life cycle cost. No one really wanted to have that discussion previously and its pointless now.

How to judge this settlement? Everyone sets thier base line, guidance, forum chat, expectations over which we add recieved knowledge or empirical knowledge, take your pick. For me, I thinks its a good deal which has yet to become fully apparent. Samsung have done Nanoco a service in using our IP the way they have acted is far short of ideal but they've paid a price. Nanoco on the other hand have had their IP confirm and other settlement will follow, CFQDs will be ubiquitous in many aspects of modern tech and many will point to the past, but there have been some massive success in adoption plus Runcorn which is yet to bring constant revenue. No-one knows what the future holds, but now Nanoco is in its strongest position financially and technically. Nanoco has to be taken seriously, Samsung has.

The first gen was film based and LG didn't recieve good reviews but the latest articles explain how QNED (Quantum Nano Emitting Diode) stacks quantum dots and colour filters on a thin-film transistor. Have I got this correct? Or is it miss-direction.

LG did produce cfqd film based TV back in 2015. I don't think it got into production, but Nanoco planed to supply via DOW, a Google search will give details.

In brief, I believe the litigation was overtaken by technical advances and events. Taking this to trial could have resulted in a long drawn out process about obsolete technologies.
CFQD are set to be ubiquitous and the result validates Nanoco's core IP.

IDL70, there numerous gaps in our understanding of the settlement. Concider that this settlement refers to Samsung's first and possibly 2nd generation CFQD that could be why 2 core patents for a consideration weren't included.
If anyone has a theory on the divestment of non core patents, I think it could allow Samsung to continue with old tech which would of low commercial value. But no one now is going to start with 1st gen tech.

Some predictions based on $2500 TVs were wide of the mark, it was pointed out that any calculations would probably be made on the bare panels. Since then we've learnt that film prices have fallen from $300 to $20 m2 and still falling. A 55 inch screen uses under a gram of CFQD. We weren't given 'promises' on the outcome of the litigation and any guidance is just that. If the outcome didn't match reality could the problem be the expectations without all the parameters is where the problem is. Sure we can blame somebody for not meeting our desired, or even there own desired result. The decision makers had all the pieces and made a deal. If we make decisions without all the parameters there has to be a level of self accountability. I was surprised Samsung settled pre trial, they didn't need to and to ask Nanoco to risk a trial in time, money, and management time when a deal is possible would be clever. The settlement is just a part of the equation, I think other parts of the equation are still to become evident.
