Mike sounds pretty bullish on the Ecuador project. Claims technoeconomic study will be submitted this week or early next.

Then will be some period of time while the client ruminates over their options and considers the complicating factors relating to their domestic situation, etc.

I guess the next step would be pre-FEED and/or an MOU/MOA for progressing trials.

This seems like the project to watch at the moment when it comes to potential announcements over coming couple of months.

I must say, the amount of progress described in this update is *substantially* more than I was expecting, given the prevailing situation.

Real progress made in KSA, Morocco, and Latin American country.

There is now a runway of at least 1 year, which is a very significant milestone, in my opinion. By then we should have vaccines being widely deployed, or at least it should be very clear what the pathway will be for normalisation (if it has not already occurred; hopefully it has).

This gives us a very substantial cushion.

It shows you that the industry spends so much on expensive offices and constantly travelling, yet when finally forced to modernise, they can progress things very effectively remotely at greatly reduced cost.

Very interesting video; the spray is incredibly fine and appears evenly-dispersed, as you would expect

At the AGM they said that the *currently* agreed use-cases with the Moroccan mining client are in the '1 MMU range'. 1 MMU is approx 1000 tpd at full tilt.

The current estimates exclude any expansion into new areas with the existing client (which is plausible if QFI succeed with the initial project), and any acquisition of new clients/sectors in Morocco (e.g. cement, power, desal).

I imagine if we are successful in commercialising the product, then it will be rolled out in a staged fashion, as we are talking about multiple pieces of industrial equipment, rather than a megaproject.

I also had an interesting thought on this topic: Bitumina sell solid bitumen product that can be shipped easily in containers and similar; that would let you emulsify the bitumen into MSAR at the customer site rather than needing to be at a refinery or terminal.

Could be an interesting option for commercial trials, especially in more remote locations.

Just a thought; I have no information to substantiate it.

BTW, Mike mentioned a Mediterranean visit by the project team. Interesting.

A key takeaway for me was that we're still on track for the Morocco pilot delivery within Q1.

Look forwards to more IR/PR so we can understand what is happening with other keystone projects (KSA, Q8, EOR, etc).

MSAR is usually a high sulphur fuel, so would need to be used with scrubbers.

AIUI, it can be low sulphur, but that isn't the current economic target.

Sounds good; let's see what transpires over the coming weeks & months. Hopefully it will justify the optimism shown in this RNS.

They indicated that the initial rollout for projects identified (assuming pilot and commercial trial succeeds) was 1 MMUs worth per year range (yes, annoyingly vague). However, they said it is possible that the technology can be used more widely and in other applications they haven't investigated much yet.

Further, it was mentioned there are other industrial and power applications within Morocco that could be good uses of MSAR (e.g. Cement). That would be over and above the amounts already discussed.

However, I got the impression that we'll cross that hurdle when we get to it (post pilot & trial, etc).

It's worth noting that Mr Maamar's agreement allows additional companies and projects to be brought on board with a similar project management and reward structure.

Yeah, Q1-Q2 should be a key period.

The Morocco pilot trial that should be kicking off now, and should be complete within Q1, assuming it succeeds as we all would hope, then we should see a transition to a full commercial trial (with plans for commercial operations subsequently, one would hope).

Also, last we heard of the European Oil Refiner they were in the process of deciding the refinery fuelling options given IMO 2020, and if that were to be MSAR (we don't know yet), then QFI would expect to be doing some sort of trial during H1. So, you would expect that the EOR would not want to drag out that decision-making process for very long, as the economic impact of IMO 2020 is hitting super hard now.

I agree that more communication would be very valuable, in addition to regular business development progress updates, of the type we received immediately before the AGM.

I certainly would expect to hear updates on Q8 and KSA within H1.

Having seen the QRF, I have confidence in the team to execute on the technical trial. I very much hope that the business team can follow that through into commercial operations in Morocco and elsewhere.

I'm sure the client would be delighted with the product, both economically and environmentally, and the team will undoubtedly provide them with excellent support.

4. More regular and frequent newsflows; client names; project milestone, size and value disclosures.

We've typically seen progress is quite "bursty" at Quadrise, with short periods of intense activity and news, and long periods of silence (i.e. all behind-the-scenes stuff). That has allowed things to drift.

I hope that in 2020 we can see more consistent and frequent newsflows, with disclosure of clients and disclosure of project milestones being hit. Moreover, we really need to understand the size and value of these projects eventually, so we (and the market) can understand the true value of Quadrise.

I believe if we can tell the market we're working with the big names we suspect, then it will greatly help the share price and encourage other clients of similar standing to experiment with MSAR.

For example, we know it's likely Groupe OCP in Morocco (huge producer of phosphates), but the wider market will not take our word for it.

5. Stretch goal: Reengage with marine

We've talked IMO 2020 to death, and now it's here. The effects on the fuel market are so dramatic that they're important for non-marine as well as marine.

Within CY2020 I hope we will have to kicked off something with a marine operator. Ideally a LONO, or perhaps a more adventurous operator will allow us to use a vessel that is towards the end of its operating life.

Marine is challenging for all the reasons we've outlined in great detail before: bunkering; hair-on-fire fuel, ops, and innovation teams; conservatism and scepticism; etc, etc.

Please share your reasoned CY2020 targets and expectations (i.e. put on your ultra-rational hat and pretend that you're QFI's chairman, and share your rationale)!

p.s. I don't personally expect we will make any profit within CY2020, but QFI should be showing it's possible and what the potential revenues and profits are in a real commercial deployment.
