Or maybe is just that they bought some more and the total holding is now 4.96%?

Chrisa10, then they mush have increased their stake by at least 1.96+% as the threshold to trigger disclosure/an RNS is 3%.

Romaron, I am pleased you enjoyed (original post: "Is The Ukraine War Actually An Energy Heist By Russia?"). The second part of the interview is worth a listen too, parts of which are quite funny too (it is just the first 18 minutes, as after that the Wealth Managers make their comment). The guy is a class act. Of particular interest was the comment that Publicly quoted Hydrocarbon companies are getting tired of “ESG Virtue-Signalling” and the related not being able to raise capital, and are looking at going private, combined with the comment of the interviewee having met recently a collective of Family Offices who are absolutely interested in long-term stakes in Hydrocarbon companies. I don’t know if this could be relevant to Enquest, but… who would not accept 50p a share right now? (Even if, and as said before and as all now start to see, that Enquest is crazily undervalued and the 60p party, even this year, is highly probable.)

mrc, agreed, it was easy to understand the focus was more on Putin and his reasons for invading than more about energy in general (and geopolitics). I really recommend a listen. It's one of the best explanations I've heard of where things are, or rather are not, in the energy transition. He, the interviewee, also makes the distinction between hydrocarbons sourced from totalitarian/despotic states and democratic/free states. If the democratic states can't provide the hydrocarbons the "developing" places need, then these places will be forced to go to despotic states - a double loss for the Free West. Anyway, If you do listen and after you think it was pretty much a waste of time, I'll take it on the chin :).

Yeah, yeah, mrc… we all see that. Did you watch the whole interview? The hydrocarbon resources are in the East of Ukraine. Maybe Putin was hoping for a quick n easy win of all of Ukraine and, yes, this has clearly not been achieved, but kicking him out of the East (and the Crimea) is going to be another story. Anyway… my reason for posting, and why I said it was for anyone interested in energy, was for the “energy” angle. The interview dovetails into a well informed and very eloquent explanation of why the energy transition cannot happen as the “ESG crowd” would like to think can happen. Romaron, I think you will like it. Chilting, in your “Stanley” persona, I think you will like it a lot less. The interview also hypothesises about possible connections between Russia and India and China, and underlines “our” hypocrisy over not allowing many “developing” places to use hydrocarbons to lift more of their population from near poverty and to broaden their middle-class. So… mrc, there is much more to discuss here than the headline.

That's the question, in the subject line above, raised by a recent New York Times op-ed. What if his main objective was not regime change, but instead capture of Ukraine key eastern & coastal resources?

If looking through that lens, the incursion seems less like a bungled regime change and more like a strategic success for Russia, as Russia now is largely in control of these assets.

Chilting, I understand it was only speculation, but it sounds plausible to me and I it surprised me others did not follow up on your thoughts. Time will tell. Whatever, Enquest is now in a very good place and the SP will continue to move up (as long as there is... no major unforeseen event :) :) ;) ).

Chilting (Thursday 0752) - a Tullow/Enquest acquisition/merger could indeed make a lot of sense from multiple perspectives. Unlikely, however, either company could get the funding now for an acquisition. So, if a merger at what terms? Enquest, INV, is in a stronger position, but I accept this statemen is highly debateable (I hold both companies). What better way for all involved (especially "the market") to be comfortable the proposed terms of a merger are fair than for JS, once he has an insiders knowledge also of Tullow, to act as the "honest broker" in terms of presenting the details supporting the proposed terms? He would probably also be the person best placed to extract the immediate and longer-term financial benefits of a merger.
Possibly a merger is on the cards, unlikely, or, Dumbly, stay away from the Giggle-Juice?

Thanks, ZFG. However, the without giving the timeline the information is not so relevant; the last time it was at 80 SEK or below was in 2011, and it took until 2018 to go above 250. Or maybe there is something else I don't know?
