One would not expect any confirmation prior to the deal being signed. At the moment there are no doubt serious and sensitive negotiations taking place.

If it were not true the company would probably haver taken steps to scotch the report because they would have certainly been approached by the newspaper for comment. The Times is not likely to carry a story like this on a relatively small company unless it ha substance.
