what's the issue Gareth what I'm saying is it's going to be difficult for sports direct to get a look in here as JD scooped up 21%. so unless SD makes a huge offer, looks like JD will be doing it.

only JD is in a position to take this over I think. someone else can't get to.30% buying on the market so they'd have to approach the family and trust who are probably on a huge loss right now so will want a high price surely.

The accounts also revealed that Sports Direct has access to loans of up to £907.5m which could go up to £1bn. The current financial year has seen Ashley go on a high street acquisition spree acquiring House of Fraser for £90m, Evans Cycles for £8m and most recently Sofa.com. He also failed in a bid for HMV and pulled out of the race for embattled bakery chain Patisserie Valerie. Mike Ashley is a bit too busy on Debenhams right now but with all his recent rejected bids...he would start looking at footasylum I reckon so maybe that's why JD took another chunk. it's quite clear clear there will be a bidding war just no time scales go given.

time is an issue. how quickly will JD move on this? by when will Sports direct get interested.

there might be dips. but bigger picture is JD is clearly keen to keep sports direct out of this and if SD do offer, JD will most likely move to trump the SD offer. the story here has changed. yes there were trading warnings etc. but now JD is 20% on board, the story has totally changed.

be interesting if jd quickly move to secure the next 8% . Price doubled last time.

I just don't think ashley can buy the shares on the open market here. if he is interested hed have to approach the board with a big offer.
