ANTANANARIVO, Oct. 23 -- Four Chinese observers sent to Madagascar to monitor the upcoming presidential elections were received on Wednesday by the Indian Ocean island country's Foreign Minister Ulrich Andriantiana. On behalf of the Malagasy government, the minister expressed gratitude to China for "the important and brotherly cooperation between Madagascar and China, but especially for the presence of China in this election period." Andriantiana said China, Madagascar's unavoidable trading partner, is one of the few countries which did not suspend aid and helped the country come though the political crisis. The minister said the presence of international observers is a symbol of support for Madagascar, pledging security for all international observers. Cheng Tao, head of the Chinese observers, thanked the Malagasy government for inviting China to participate in the mission, which marks a trust between the two countries. Cheng also said China is closely following the situation in Madagascar with great interest and hope that the country will regain prosperity and stability in all areas.

Announcement of new CEO; OIP, Interims
Doc Holiday: Madagascar Oil Madagascar Oil Limited (LSE:MOIL) has had a typical year across the sector coupled with a huge transition after some disappointment on timelines etc. Shares today are changing hands for 9.5p giving a market cap of £50 million. Madagascar is seeking to appoint a new CEO, after non-executive Paul Ellis stepped in to help navigate the turbulent year. The new appointment is integral to the future of the company however I feel the low risk East Africa onshore assets with a $1 billion P50 based on 1.7bn Bl/s and its near term cash flow from its pilot scheme should get the wheels in motion quite quickly. Madagascar has had a great institutional support which is telling to the nature of the interest here. I believe that the company looks cheap and through the passage of time will deliver a decent return from here.
Madagascar Oil announces that it has today posted to shareholders of the Company notice of an annual general meeting (the "AGM") to be held on 26 September 2013 at the offices of Watson, Farley & Williams LLP, 15 Appold Street, London, EC2A 2HB at 11:00 a.m. (UK time).
