Edmund Truell (Co-Founder)
Edmund Truell is a long-standing conservationist and successful financial entrepreneur. He is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Truell Conservation Foundation, the ambition of which is to create a charitable endowment of £100 million. At his behest some £2 million has already been used to benefit global conservation initiatives with a particular emphasis on science, education and sustainability; and to support British servicemen and their families. Edmund is a Trustee of the Charles Darwin Foundation and former chairman and founding member of the Galapagos Conservation Trust in London, where he helped to raise public awareness of threats to the Islands. The Truell Conservation Foundation was awarded special recognition by the Ecuadorean government for its work on the Islands energy and resource planning. During the 1990s, Edmund helped raise $25 million to restore degraded farmland and create a new African game reserve.
With his brother Danny Truell, in 2006 he co-founded Pension Corporation. Its insurance company, Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), is now a leading provider of risk management solutions to defined benefit pension funds and has over £6 billion in assets under management. In 2012, Edmund raised £400 million of additional capital for PIC. Edmund’s and Danny’s shares in Pension Corporation are pledged to the Truell Conservation Foundation. Edmund is Chairman of Disruptive Capital Finance, which manages the Sustainable Tech.
