In respect to core technology development, we have been assessing our own MEA technology against externally available materials in order to balance time to market, performance specifications and durability - all of which are critical to the total cost of ownership for our customers. Ultimately, our aim is to develop a suite of polymer options allowing us to tailor chemistries to meet the specific application and fuel requirements - "flex fuelling". This is fully consistent with the alkaline and hybrid fuel cell platforms under development. Importantly, we are focussing on technologies which give us fastest route to market whilst also matching customer fuelling strategies.

How do you know it’s using Alkamem ?

Alkamem for example, we’ve been receiving positive feedback for years, last year we invested in manufacturing scale up of Alkamem yet now it’s not an immediate priority.

Is it similar to the positive feedback that AB has been mentioning for years ?

This is turning into a farce. Multiple unit orders expected H2 2021, Acciona delivery 2 years late, promises of getting systems out in the field.
Stick a power tower on the back of a van, drive to the nearest construction site and ask them if they want to try it, how hard is that ? But we take an order, can’t deliver, then say we’ve got something better in development, delay delivery on that as well, this saga just goes on and on and on.

You’re absolutely right Heath, every day I see other companies announcing new products and actual sales and I do wonder frequently if this is the right investment and if you had any sense you’d be doing the same. If AFC was a cast iron guaranteed success the SP wouldn’t be where it is, maybe you should have a think about that ?

Using generators fuelled with hydrogen rather than diesel seems very logical compared to our complex engineered offering, I’d like to know the pros and cons of both solutions.

No supply chain issues for them then in getting their equipment on site, at least we’ve got first mover advantage with AB in charge and we’ve got the USP of using flex fuel and a lower TCO as Haggis kindly pointed out.
