Yes mate, guzzle orange juice with everything and 500% rdi of vitamin c tablets. have cut right back on dairy cos that negatively affects iron absortion. shame cos i love milk and really need the protein but one battle at a time eh!

im on liquid ferrous fumerate now so should absorb that better as no gastric juices required to dissolve, and ive upped my intake to 50% above top daily recommended levels of that and tolerating without trouble. Am concentrating on animal based iron as easier to absorb than plant based, not doing my chloresterol much good but am doing all i can and then some. Im not one to not give 101% or lie down easily :)

As a triva thing, did you know there is 10g of iron in 75g of liver (hate it but am eating that too), but also unbelieviably 4g of iron in 50g of licorice allsorts! Ive bought ten bags today and eaten one (230g) of them already.

Problem is with the paperwork, i dont have it the consultant will, but i kid you not about the 4 feet pile its huge. I had 5 relapses (conduit collapses and expands) multiple endos, 3 pyloric stretches, many Ngs and NJs, a Peg, central line feeding as well as NJ fresubin at home for months, several keyhole explores. 24 separate holes in me in the end - some 12" long, left and right crus cut and quite a bit more, then i ended up admitted elsewhere with sepsis. So lots to talk through really and not viable on the videophone really.

Breathe, you will be pleased to know im not going to the QE on Monday, i have relented and followed your advice. Unfortuntely i waited 7 months for that appointment, and will probably have to wait at least as long for its replacement if not longer, but as much as i want the lessons learned from my experiences for other people and my questions answered, im not dopey enough to step inside the petri dish hospital lobby. I shall hide in the house except for my single short stroll.

As for the water, your right Ken, dont touch the untested vile 'mineral' or bottled stuff. Its a real a health hazard and not good for you like the marketeers would have you believe. Stick with the cheaper tap stuff thats tested millions of times a year(unlike bottled) and that people like me keep wholesome.

billy, i know mate. my neighbour is a physio at the local minor injuries. All staff retrained in respiratory management three weeks ago, all physio and district nurses home visits stopped etc etc. Huge amount of prep being done behind the scenes. Might have started off slow according to the media but our 4th emergency service and best loved institution is busting its socks off, bless every single one of them involved.

Im a glass 'overflowing' person, and have every confidence that this situation wont last forever, that the British public will rise (a slow start maybe so far) to that challenge and overcome it in the end. As for me personally, im clearly at high risk i understand that, but whilst being extremely careful in my actions i wont be hiding in the cellar praying for salvation, i wont be holding parties either, im isolating (apart from the hosp visit) as instructed apart from one stroll a day at the most.

George, im lucky down here (wont hear me say that very often) in that there are lots of remote places to go and very low levels of population, im metres from the clifftop at my place and my estate is very open and uncrowded so plenty of space to stroll around on your own. I'll definately be going out for a stroll. The greatest advantage here is the prevailing wind, if you cough here at midday by 12.01 its usually been blown to Exeter or drowned by the rain :)

Ive a bit of experience running crisis management (when Gloucestershire flooded a decade or two ago and knocked out the water infrastructure) and the last thing you want is a confidence killing piece of duff info on display, takes away confidence real or otherwise.

an example, if (in a care home) a patient is suspected to have the virus, leave them in their bedroom and close the door - ok i might be able to see the logic of that as a first step - if you cant isolate them in their bedroom, Document it!
