Interesting little real life observation around 8nsurance companies from a vehicle perspective.
The postman drove into my wifes parked on the drive car the other month, just damaged the wing (its a bolt on part), nothing else.
Anyway, went through the royal mails insurance process, which was extremely painful and protracted. Upshot is they couldnt fix the damage for almost 2 months via their approved garage. Obviously i complained, in the end they offered the value of the repair in cash for me to organise my own repairer. Which i took.
Nice bacs payment for £1116 + vat.
I bought a brand new wing prepainted and delivered for £95, spent an easy two hours fitting it.
Conclussion. Insurance companies could save themselves an awful lot of money by clamping down on their dodgy 'approved' repairers who clearly inflate prices massively = more profits.
