So its the "shenanigans" to blame now. . . do you mean "scum" shorters, traders, market manipulators, derampers. . . . or is it realy just because this company has spent all its cash and is more than likely chewing through the revolver too?

Im not so sure about the "holding 70p", that went away a few days ago, might be struggling to 'hold' onto the 60's with the current performance.

The company said it carried 16.8 million passengers, compared with 9.3 million in July 2021 with a load factor of 96%, up from 80% a year earlier.
Ryanair operated around 92,300 flights during the month.
Rival Wizz Air on Tuesday reported a 61% year-on-year increase in July carryings to nearly five million on a load factor of 89.7%."

Glen doesnt cancel its buyback shares, holds in treasury, around 13% of total stock currently if i recall. They cannot pay divis on such stock however - not sure on capital repayments, so maybe thats why they pay those instead, allows business cash to be recycled?
Only benifit i can see is it reduces the risk of a hostile takeover, in that the BOD have more shares to vote against such an event - although the flip side is true in that should the BOD want to sell then they hold more % so could easier - especially with a few large holders here like Ivan.

Buybacks im not a fan off as a shareholder return. Id sooner have the cash to spend as i wish, maybe elsewhere, rather than some dubious theroetical sp 'increase' and boost to eps.
