£227 million of shares purchased, from the £750 million share buy back programme.
£170 million of shares purchased, from the £750 million share buy back programme.
Paultoyko29 - i never mentioned share price, i have no idea what you are talking about....
£150 million of shares already purchased, out of the £500 million share buy back programme recently announced.
Super analysis JamesYoung.
Unfortunately i think you are correct to point out there is a long way to go yet
Looks like the share buyback plan has already commenced.
Kicked off on Friday with 7 million shares purchased on the first day.
Yes very good point.
We need at least another 7 billion of buybacks to happen.
Unfortunately that will take another 2 - 3 years.
Re: Buyback of shares
When the Barc results are announced on the 26th Oct, wondering if a new buyback plan is due to be released?
If it is, wondering what the size could be....maybe £1bn?
Re: £500m share buy back - 65% completed to date.
Re: £500m share buy back - 48% completed to date.
Re: £500m share buy back
£161m spent so far i.e. 32% completed to date.
Re: £500m share buy back
£115m spent so far i.e. 23% completed to date.
Reducer - some poor shareholders have been waiting to off load Barclays stock since the GFC (when SP was £7).
So they have been waiting 15 years already!
Share buy backs will start to make a difference, but only when the number of shares issued has dropped by 50% i.e. back to pre GFC levels.
At the moment share buy backs are having little impact because the number of shares issues issued is far to high to make any difference. This is the result of the various rights issues/capital raising requirements as a result of the GFC.
Barclays is not as multinational as you might think.
Most of the revenue and profits come from the UK and America (mostly old Lehman business).
Over the years exposure to Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia has significantly reduced.
Africa exposure reduced due to sale of ABSA and only now are we seeing a slight uplift in exposure within Asia.
Let the buyback commence!......exciting times!
Although £500m is relatively small beer.....hopefully they will announce a further top up buyback in the not to distant future.
Re: £1bn Share buyback
£949m has been spent, so 95% complete to date.
Ok great thanks, not long to wait now then.
Only issue is that a £500m buyback is too small really. BARC need to go in big and announce a £2bn buyback, that will start to have an impact.
In relation to the current £1bn buyback, it is now 82% complete.
Is my understanding correct that the newly announced £500m buyback will only commence, once the current £1bn buyback is fully completed?
