£1.35 and a bag of skittles
JDW & MAB spiked same time as Marstons but to a lesser extent.
Every time Supercharger comes on the board to taunt us, the shareprice goes up soon after....it's practically Newtonian!
You're both wrong. It's Jarlsberg. We make cheese now.
Yeah Highveld. Been buying in for months as it seems like both a dividend stock and a growth stock! Some risk but worth it IMO. All-time highs encouraging
@4311ACQR Is that you supercharger? A strange first post.
For transparency I currently have shares of both NewRiver and Regional REIT, intending to hold both long-term.
phy510. If not aware, you might also want to take a look at Regional Reit (RGL). Though trading at less of a discount, it's very well run, collecting about 95% of it's rent in current climate and IMHO well placed to benefit if remote working makes more large firms decide to save money by relocating to sites outside of the capital.
Hope so pp. I'm sick of this yoyo-ing of recent times. Some nice steady upward trend for the next few months would be just the tonic.
As Mark Knopfler once sang~ 'German beer is chemical free, Germany's al-reet with me'
If the Germans approve of our beers that's high praise indeed!
Alonso, the new CEO is the CEO for the Carlsberg-Marstons joint venture, not for Marstons. He is one of Carlsberg's men. Ralph Findlay remains the Marstons CEO.
Supercharger. If you feel large storage warehouses are the way of the future I STRONGLY recommend that you take a look at Tritax Big Box REIT. Their entire business consists of renting out large-scale logistics warehouses.
Supercharger. I dunno about groceries.....massively competitive sector with wafer thin margins (and i thought hospitality was bad!). Was a happy day when I finally sold out of Sainsburys.
Have you considered any of the REITs who rent out the property to supermarkets and the like. NewRiver has done very well for me in recent months, and REITs in general are trading at heavy discounts currently.
Barchid, let us hope so. MARS is my only hospitality holding. There is risk, but if it survives should provide very nice returns.
Supercharger, Whitbread has a MUCH stronger balance sheet than Mars, they can sustain a longer period of suspened business. Their cash on hand alone exceeds their short term debt....unlike here.
That's what I recall too YoYoMa, which is mainly why I'm querying him.
@Supercharger Confused...are you saying you are holding on to your current stake? Or have you sold off your entire Marstons holding and are holding off buying back until a better price point ?
Any reason for the large increase today relative to other pubs? Is it now too late for Supercharger to buy back in? The board will be quieter without it.....not sure if that's a good or a bad thing .
@Majorboy. Very likely there is no magic bullet vaccine. Perhaps we get something like a flu-jab each year where it's more a hit-and-hope approach. Thankfully, as more and more data comes in Covid19 looks less and less deadly, with many of the most vunerable already having sadly succumbed in March/April. Even W.H.O is now voicing opposition to further lockdown. I think one way or another people will resume ordinary lives next year.
