Broch
Just to clarify -it is not through service failures that I have not received 1 letter in 5 weeks, it is because of my choice and the digital world we live in. If my experience is happening across the country then it is essential from a business point of view for some kind of scheduling
Royal mail smashes record!
I have not received a letter for 5 weeks and counting (not even a duplicate electoral register reminder)- the previous record being 3 weeks. JB your resources to workload mantra has seemingly never been so apposite.
Strange the mention of a tour and sky TV....I am in Italy watching the giro d'italia.... sponsored by....GLS Italy. The logo is all over the roads and TV. Dusty old Royal mail (or as RGpostie would have it: Rolel Mail
JB and Anger
Not at all- I am with you both. But some here cannot come to terms with the end of the halcyon days of job and finish and the health and safety minefield that that model became.
There is still a job and finish possibility -piecework ,but employees cannot expect first class benefits like pensions and sick pay.....it would be payment per letter/door to door. IB controlled and supervised of course -this is still the king's mail. With that model there could be big savings for the customer (businesses).

Was the Nuremberg -style inquisition of Simon Thompson basically a charge of wilful delay of mail (a criminal offence)?
I hope some of the holier -than-though posters on this forum have nothing on their consciences.
'we need to back this deal, regroup, stay in the game and prepare for the future battles that lie ahead. For workers, the battle for terms and conditions is one that’s always with us. It never goes away.'. Is that the reason the article thought ids 'uninvestble'? Another 500 years of annual battles? Has ids over the last year added a new level to the term 'long suffering shareholders?
Anger,
As an average shareholder did you also know that the letters that arrive in delivery offices are also already machine sorted and sequenced so after a flick through for missorts they are in road and number order and theoretically could be walked out the office with on arrival .?..that would be a big help to USO quality of service
LOL 'torching parliament ' over.......THE LETTER. I'm all for a robust national infrastructure, but everyman and his dog that I ask, and Casper dog and his dog, and scamp the dog and his dog and hound dog and his dog acknowledge that a five day USO is adequate. I've seen many photos of Postal workers trudging through snow and British weather, but now -in 2023- I think 'what a silly way to get a message across to someone '
Scamp I agree with the need for an urgent resolution. March is nearly over and has always been the busiest letters month (end of the financial year) and the last 'moment' of any leverage for the cwu. When letters drop off from April there will be much more leeway to achieve the correct quality of service even with the new revisions.
