EU preparing mechanism to simplify exit from Russia for European companies
BRUSSELS. May 17 (Interfax) - The European Union, as part of its 11th sanctions package, intends to introduce a mechanism designed to help European companies wishing to leave the Russian market, EUobserver writes on Wednesday, citing its own data.
Proposals for the 11th round of Russia sanctions, seen by EUobserver, include special new permits for financial transactions and legal services designed to help European companies to get out, the publication reports.
Under proposals being developed in Brussels, EU countries would allow financial transactions with sanctioned Russians if they are necessary to allow companies to leave the Russian market. It is assumed that this permission would be valid until August 31, 2023. It also refers to the suspension of the ban on the provision of legal services in Russia until December 31, 2023 in cases where they are necessary to complete European companies' transactions in Russia.
In addition, the EU plans to extend restrictive measures to another 100 individuals and legal entities as part of the 11th package of Russian sanctions, the publication said.
As part of previous packages, over 1,600 Russians have been included in the sanctions lists, the article notes.
