The only reason the activists have gone quiet about petro matad is because last year the local govt refused to grant the local permit to petro matad and weve been unable to progress.
If people are unaware that central govt would be issuing the special purpose certification against the express vote of local politicians and locals then they haven't done their homework 🙄
Hamm... the activists are the main reason the local permit was refused. They post the faces and addresses of anyone who shows support to petro matad stating these traitors are selling your birth right and wealth.
WOS infers that the central government proactively intervened. This is not correct. Petro Matad took it to central government as it was clear that local government were not willing or able to grant the local permit largely in part due to activist intimidation.
Not same amount vikinglass. I post4d about 15 yesterday and WOS around 40 😲
Activists and petro matad

I also think you're forgetting the activists targeted Petro Matad and lobbied (read harrassed snd intimidated!) the local government, ....which was a major reason why the local permit was not issued by local government and forced PM to seek central govt intervention.
The activists are not just solely against Petro China in Dornod.
Masters. Are there other mining companies in Dornod apart from PC and PM?
My guess is they'd extend their protest to inc PM if in the vicinity when news broke.
Whether that would have any effect though (e.g. delaying publication of decision until they've left the area) I don't know...
The activists are back physicaly protesting in Dornod Province against Petrochina.
What does the board think they will they do if news that Petro Matad has been awarded special purpose certification drops when they are actively protesting in the area?

The simple question is... if no decision this week from the cabinet, will the cabinet continue to meet during the parliamentary recess when it reopens in October ? Does anyone know?
We left the EU due to populism. When does common sense economic desisions ever trump politicians wanting to keep their seats?
VG - the country practically shuts down for 6 weeks during Naadam. If cabinet does not meet during the festival period, then its highly possible the matter will be shelved until the Khural reopens in October.
And if elections Jimi ... then will politicians will be mindful of needing to pander to populist sentiment to secure votes, over implementing unpopular financial decisions and legislative changes in favour of foreign investment? We know that there is a lot of anti foreign investment/extreme resource nationalist sentiment in Mongolia...
I am invested and sincerely hope this matter is sorted this year, indeed I hope WOSs assumption is right, but always eyes wide open, with no rose tinted glasses, as what can go wrong seems to be what does go wrong in the case if PM in my experience.
So WOS you made an assumption that all would be sorted before the end of the Khural spring session then.
At least that clarifies the origins of that piece of mega research.
Shopping early this week ... enjoy.
Disingenous ramper says "Also after so long cannot believe some poster upset because 2 or 3 day out in timeline estimate."
You SAID 9th July AT THE LATEST.
Let's hope it does get granted before Khural closure this week or else we might be waiting until October ..not just a few days
"During the Naadam, Mongolians usually take an annual holiday for extended time-off to go on a 2-4 week road trip around the country. This is a great opportunity to experience different local Naadam festivals each year and provides much-needed support for the local communities."
The mini local ones run throughout August

CW Nadam has different dates in different states.
Masters... sounds like the investment law might be hotly debated then!
The Great Khural has 2 sessions: autumn and spring. The autumn session usually opens beginning of October.
SPC timeframe from the latest RNS ...
Conclusions
During 2022, the Company continued to make progress ... but remained frustrated in its efforts by the ongoing land access dispute. However, having made good progress with central government, the Company is confident that the land issue will be resolved during 2023.
I personally believe cabinet still meet outside of the two parliamentary sessions but not sure if they do this during Nadam (national holidays).
WOS - Im not the one that goes round telling people to get in at 7p or they will miss out
or tell people that the LP will land before 9th July...
