@Bens_sipp - Was in a similar position when sp slumped to 0.25p when my average was over 10p. I bought a huge amount at 0.25p just before the price jumped up to near 3p and made a six figure gain. I have several millions of 'free' shares now awaiting the second wave. Most of my HE1 shares are within my SIPP, so Rachel from accounts and her predecessors helped to buy them in the first place. My gain is their gain and my loss is their loss.

It all depends on how much £5K means to you and whether you can manage without it for a while.

IMHO, it does make sense to average down if you are still confident of a good return in the future.
