don't think that's the case at all, pretty sure there was no expiry date on them . He wouldn't loose those options and in actual fact he'd be able to do a free exercise and sale , the difference between the exercise price and the sale value he'd gain, without having to actually part cash with for them. So this is him really putting his own money in big time, perhaps wants more voting rights as cant figure why else you'd do it.

could be worth buying some shares in Oberon OBE , if you think they'll benefit significantly from the margins gained on the AAA trades that they're servicing . Worth a thought.
