moving averages:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_average
Analysts, when looking at long term trends, generally look at the 50 day SMA against the 100 day and 200 day SMA. So they look at the average closing mid price of the last 50 days against the last 100 and 200 days. WHen the 50 day moves abover the 200 day, it is generally a bull sign meaning that the momentum in the particular security is bullish (the average of the last 50 days is now above the average of the last 200 days). This has not happened yet but the 50 has crossed the 100 so there is some short term momentum.
Ofcourse, these are all backward looking indicators and cannot predict the future. However, using all the information you can gather such as the ones I mentioned above and qaulitative information such as the business practices of the company (operates in the Far East which is considered to be more resilient to this fall out, is not over exposed to credit markets, has gone through a rights issue already, increased profits and divident, is looking to expand at the bottom of the market), you can judge whether this is a good bet or not. In this case, I really like this company.
