If you subscribe to the belief that the United States has become a plutocracy, then no, the US has no desire for the countries in her backyard to prosper, and subsequently, compete with American corporations. It wants them to remain as fiefdoms, its sole purpose is the extraction of its natural resources to serve its regional hegemony.

Every country acts in its own self interest, and if your country's government is captured by the elites, then it'll naturally act in the interests of the elites. Until the interests of the elites clash and overproduction of said elites eventually leads the country into a gradual / rapid decline.

Which is the only reason the US dollar still retains its global reserve currency status. After all, if countries of the Global South are taking steps towards de-dollarisation, replacing oil payments with their own currency and payment system, a substantial reduction in the demand for dollars will sound the death knell for the American economy. There'd be no way to finance all that government spending.

In view of the recent rendition of Mr & Mrs Maduro to the U.S., a head of state of a sovereign nation, i reckon the biggest risk to the MTL investment thesis would have to be geopolitical.

Although Nicaragua is in Central America and to the best of my limited knowledge, firmly entrenched in the U.S. sphere of influence… the unpredictability of the current American administration keeps me on edge.

I reckon it'll be a temporary spike in the SP upon release of a positive Dupax RNS before it retraces again.

Doubt MTL's SP is going to rerate until La India is up and running.

I constantly wonder what could possibly cause this stock to fail? Political chaos in Nicaragua? Black swan global crisis? Departure of key executives (e.g. Bowden)

What is the speculated SP if DUPAX turns out to be a dud?

I find the real risk to this investment isn't so much unfavourable drill results from Dupax, but the following:

1) key man risk a la Darren Bowden

2) large substantial shareholders

3) La India build out delay

4) delays to Abra tenements and exploration

The macro environment is beyond our individual control. And I agree with Major4legs that every bull run eventually comes to an end. We shouldn't ignore the fact that the price of gold did collapse and stayed there for 2 decades.

IMHO, I doubt we will see a re-rate until La India enters production.

The market still views MTL as a risky, single asset producer.

I think we can all agree that gold will always retain its hedge against inflation and as an internationally accepted store of value.

Why the spot price goes up or down is beyond me.

Unless the company has failed to / underdelivered on its promises or something fundamental has changed, I see no reason to worry about the retracing of the share price. This is an AIM stock after all.

Sure it looks horrible to see your portfolio take a nosedive for no apparent reason. But the more we focus on the share price, the more we'll be inclined to sell up whenever there's a selloff. Just imagine someone is making mint and getting richer at your expense because you sold up when the price tanked, only for it to subsequently recover and even exceed the previous ATH.

I suspect it is an Interactive Brokers issue.

I held Condor Gold shares on the TSX (ticker: COG). I've also sent multiple messages and called in to IB to no avail.

All they've said was that they were still waiting for details from the "agent" (whoever that is) and that the MTL shares would be credited to my account upon receipt of aforementioned said details.

In my Interactive Brokers search universe, I am unable to find MTL on the AIM LSE.

However, MTL's German stock exchange (FWB2) listing, (Ticker: MJ4), appears in my search universe.

Not sure what to do next. My last correspondence with IB was that IB's London office had assigned a case # to me and would contact me within 72 hours.

I am also facing the same issue. My broker is interactive brokers.

I have received the cash consideration but not the MTL shares nor the CVRs.

Their response was that the shares have either not been credited or that they are still awaiting additional details from the agent.

Voted in favour of the deal.

Investors who were expecting a 2-3x buyout premium, myself included, had been deluded by greed. No one is going to pay such a premium regardless of the value of the assets.

MTL paid a large premium to the VWAP of the past month or so and that is the most decent outcome we could realistically expect.

As I understand it, this is a done deal unless the COG BOD reneges on their irrevocable undertaking.

Having said that, if a competing bidder makes a “takeover offer”, not a “recommended offer”, then the BOD will be forced to consider it.

Because that would mean a hostile takeover bid.

If the CEO has publicly stated that the remaining land that COG doesn't own is not a problem, then I suppose he will be liable for any potential issues related to it that arise down the line.

I'd rather the company not turn adversarial against the artisanal miners, because no acquirer wants to deal with such hrsesht. Best to cut some sort of profit sharing deal or buy them out completely.

@Seingred we can only speculate what a realistic sale price will be.

The value of the asset is already well established.

My feeble take on the whole situation is that a GBP 0.50 / share binding, takeover bid offer is eminently achievable. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

If Mellon intends to extract maximum value, then the structure of a deal would probably entail an initial offer, followed by staggered payments based on production milestones.
