The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
In theory this should steadily rise now
Budget caps, head counts here we come
Very peculiar one, when you think about the average age of bar staff ?? the majority of them wouldn’t have had their vaccine would they!
You will be a tad worse for wear then!!!!! Thoroughly deserved after this wait!
Going forward, a question for you guys?
With the fleet of breweries in the CMBC, Eagle brewery has a massive site and large brewing capacity, storage. Now with the impact COVID has had damaging profit etc, would it not make sense now Carlberg hold the larger hand to close down the landlocked smaller breweries such as Ringwood and Jennings? Eagle were knocking out 70 brews a week when brewing red stripe, cobra and the wells brews amongst other contract beers, now only doing 10-15 a week. Selling the smaller breweries/business off would help recoup lost earnings and would not lose out any production capacity, to me it’s a no brainer!
Was thinking the same to be honest Joe
She’s made it ??
A classic Carlsbeg trait :-D
Bought in for long term investment, dipped in at various prices along the way up to 50p, looking rather healthy indeed with the jv in place. Really hope they stick to their guns after seeing/hearing their 5 year plan, bolstered up no end so can’t wait for the pubs to open and see the SP climb.
How long can this SP be sustained whilst pubs remain closed to at least end of March??
Tricky, we are in lockdown and we are hovering around 70 at present, will jump maybe a little when pubs re-open and steady sales pick up, so as yoyoma says 90 to 100 isn’t at all far off, reckon it may get there sooner than a year on
Joint venture in my opinion would be a 50/50, however carlsberg take the controlling share with 60%, for the contract period yes this will run as brewing however when this ends I would not be surprised with it going down the tetley route

I believe in my opinion once the CMA dealing has been signed off there will be another spike, however whether the ‘spike’ remains just that and falls off again is the million dollar question, all hanging on COVID at present
I have heard rumblings of things being somewhat top heavy in the structure up top fairdealer so it would be about bloody time, would save themselves a fortune. Perhaps with this JV that may be one of the key things they kick off with a re-structure
Well this is typical of Marstons, you should see the lack of organisation if you can call it that here at Bedford, managers couldn’t organise a **** up even if they tried!!!!! It’s left for the operators to organise production, I dare say things here would run like clockwork if all the managers buggered off and not stuck their noses in confusing the simplest of tasks!
Well can’t see Estrella renewing their deal with Marstons for the distribution when/if this JV goes ahead, their nose has been pushed well out of joint with the Calsberg move with their baby San Miguel!!!!
We only brew the Ichiban under license, estrella is imported in (bottles and cans), tankered over from Spain and we keg it at Bedford. Warsteiner and Founders only distributed through us
