Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
The Portuguese media seem happy to jump on this water use figure as gospel for the whole industry. https://www.theportugalnews.com/news/2023-01-23/the-exploitation-of-portugals-mineral-resources/74085
I hope SAV’s PR person is contacting editors to communicate our net zero numbers?
Good news on that it seems? From the SAV website: “Water usage: Project to be self-sufficient through on-site water harvesting and storage, & wastewater recycling”.

How does our water consumption compare I wonder?
Would be even better if that pool of interested investors could see that the EU were giving as much support as the US is currently giving.
Ah yes, it’s the report from the first phase which will be included in the EIA application this month.
Overall encouraging but as CIG are still gathering data before writing a report to be included with the revised EIA application I can’t see early completion in Q1 as some had hoped?
“ The diagrams in the proposal show an upstream tailings dam, which as I have said, is illegal in four Latin American countries.” Wonder which lithium mine in Barosso Emerman was referring to in his evidence to the EU?
Rather conservative I would have thought?
It’s not just the residents - Steven Emerman really did a number on our proposed tailings facility to the EU parliament hearing some time ago. Hopefully any issues he raised have been resolved in the revised plan. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/cmsdata/243324/Hearing%2002.12.2021%20testimony%20Emerman.pdf
We get a mention as a prime example. https://www.euractiv.com/section/energy-environment/news/local-resistance-a-major-stumbling-block-for-eus-critical-raw-materials-plan/
Major Tom, you give a whole new depth to “risk-averse”! I sometimes wonder who, from the retail side, is still to buy as so much evidence of deal completion is available. It’s good to know that you and maybe many others are still sitting on their hands until the deal is in black and white, at which point of course, buying pressure will be intense.
After gushing princes and dodgy rocket launches we may now have to witness the death throes of British Volt. https://amp.theguardian.com/business/nils-pratley-on-finance/2023/jan/11/northvolt-v-britishvolt-clarity-v-confusion-in-the-great-electric-car-battery-race
There should surely be a law against calling start-ups British anything to avoid the national shame on failure? Luckily our eggs seem to be in the Northvolt basket - a shining example of first mover advantage and how to attract the big bucks.
They are way ahead of you IB!

Good day for a top-up I thought!
Technically still Q1 2023 and fine if there was no need for urgency. Would be better if it were published a little earlier to support a positive decision by Portugov’s decision makers.
This is I believe “early 2023” yet no peep from the EU on its Critical Raw Materials Act. Not surprised of course as nothing in the EU ever seems to be delivered on time, let alone early. Meanwhile, at least one EU commentator is starting to envisage what impact mining will have, “eco” or just “responsible” and some of the unknowns related to the untested geothermal projects. https://www.theparliamentmagazine.eu/news/article/lithium-mining-france
Elsewhere battery storage projects are popping up here and there on top of the new battery making and recycling plants will begin to change the industrial landscape hopefully into something cleaner and greener than what it is replacing. https://renewablesnow.com/news/tagenergy-harmony-energy-start-building-49-mw-bess-in-scotland-810860/
It’s a brave new world and SAV hopes to be a big part of it if only the EU would crack on and make things a little easier for us.
Don’t think you will be complaining soon Battery Metals. If a licence has been nominated to a company name associated with the earlier JV announcement it seems likely that this is how we will go forward with AA. Probably the licence office has let the cat out of the bag somewhat as they have published the name before the next RNS has been released? Couldn’t make it any clearer could they?
Would be interested to hear your reasons for bearishness WT. You were lucky buying at 2.4p and selling at 2.8p recently so understand that you hope to rinse and repeat but that just says opportunist rather than strategist. Any insights to share?
Seems like the Portuguese government is in deep trouble and may not survive? Let’s hope it doesn’t mean another election as everything stopped for the last one.

Not sure whether this has anything to do with it? Recommending any small cap miners involved with batteries in 2023- lithium or copper.
