The network operators are proposing to convert existing natural gas pipelines so that they can transport hydrogen instead, as well as building new infrastructure. The aim is for this new infrastructure spanning more than 200 km between the Grand-Est and Bade-Wurtemberg to be brought into service by 2028.

Hydrogen all over the world will be the main power for heavy vehicles ,,, we're not blue hydrogen were grey hydrogen much cheaper...

Low carbon hydrogen will get a further boost with over £21 million of government support for 7 projects to make green fuel, powering up local transport and businesses from Suffolk to Shetland. 

Four projects will develop plans for new hydrogen production plants, to supply cleaner fuel to companies across a range of industries – from pharmaceuticals to automotive, boosting our energy security for the long term.

I am very suprised we have no RNS today !!

Not sure who is the PR consultant for PHE .

I would write to every news paper inviting them , every council let the big investors invest and get rid of the whites for good in reliable and Howard told us lies quote " fill ya boots " which we did and he sold , why this was not looked into by the board of directors and reported . Miss conduct jeopardizing the future of PHE and our money.

Maybe a UPDATE this afternoon or tomorrow morning to catch shorters and them out ...

So how does this new strategy impact Powerhouse Energy Group? The Net Zero Growth Plan is the official response to the independent review of the Net Zero strategy. The document states that the Government will “partly or fully” act upon 23 of the 25 recommendations. This includes establishing a roadmap and industry taskforce for solar and establishing Great British Nuclear, but also commits to outlining a clear approach to the rebalancing of gas against electricity by the end of this year. Powerhouse stands with a foot in both gas and electricity and can make a positive contribution to this shift.

Carbon capture is a major feature of the government’s Energy Security Plan and is fundamental to how the net zero transition is to be delivered. This claims that decarbonising the power sector, whilst meeting an increase in electrical demand of up to 60% in the next decade could bring forward £275 -£375 billions of investments from both private and public sectors. In the announcement the government revealed the first projects eligible for funding within the carbon capture “Clusters”. The Protos plastics to hydrogen project sits within the HyNet cluster of the north-west England, which now stands to be a focus for decarbonisation in the UK. Whilst we will not be a beneficiary of the immediate allocation, Powerhouse must now engage with the cluster and take advantage of this major development.

The government is now set to impose pollution charges on the sector under the UK emissions trading scheme (ETS). The cost to councils could be more than £1bn a year.

A significant chunk of the waste that many householders carefully sort for recycling ends up being burned.

Councils now face the prospect of millions of pounds of pollution charges for burning waste. The energy-from-waste incinerators have been described as the dirtiest way the UK now generates power, with campaigners warning that plants in England emit about 12m tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.

Response to the government proposals by waste and bioenergy experts Tolvik Consulting warns new waste incineration fees under the scheme “will exceed the cost of landfill and probably the cost of exports” – it would cost in the range of £135 to £193 a tonne to burn rubbish, compared with £146 to £156 a tonne to send it to landfill, or £111 to £124 a tonne to send it overseas. Tolvik’s response warns of a “significant risk” that more waste would be sent to landfill in England or exported for burning in European plants, with increased road and sea transport emissions. It proposes a ban on sending any waste to landfill that is bio­degradable or combustible in an energy plant.
