The other huge elephant in the room with share buybacks is this. The board do not have to pay for their free shares. Therefore, it is in the board’s own interests to deliberately lower the SP, whenever their free shares are due to be purchased. They will receive more at a low SP!!

This gives all of the board a real motive to rock the boat and lose all genuine investors money (genuine… anyone who actually pays for their shares with hard earned money).

So, there you have it! The bent board have an incentive to lower the SP on purpose, when their own free shares are due.

Interesting discrepancy, buy not really. Most likely that your “director buys” link are not actual buys. Mainly free share awards. A smoke screen of freebie perks perhaps. Anyway, I’d trust the HL site for the real buys, before LSE who make obvious daily mistakes on these 15 minute trade updates. LSE are well known for showing share trade buys as sells and vice versa.
