George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
I dont know if your right, I think those of us who have held substantial amounts of shares in Kcom over the years have watched and listened and believed only to be let down by one excuse or another year after year. To be told of board change then un explained rapid exit of the Finance Director and out of the blue November announcement that wiped out a third of our investment and halved our dividend. It makes you a little numb and start to ask questions about what really has been going on in the board room. I believe in the brand and the future potential that Kcom now has having invested in what is without doubt the best broad band service providers fibre infrastructure in the Country. I wonder what the Financial report for the year end will state on Friday. Perhaps we will see a light improvement in dividend projection. I would not be surprised to see another bid for Kcom over the current offer. When all is said and done and the games have played out, it is nice to see the share price return to where it belongs.
Hi Jimmy nope it got as far as £1.21 I think after they sold their interests in the south to city fibre for 90 mill and fell back sharply during the following 6 months. It has been a steady money maker that returns higher than any bank percentage even now with the cut in divi. and I think there is potential for so much within kcom now that the old caretaker has left and the top has fresh people with perhaps a more forward thinking approach .
The dizzy height of 2000 when the price reached £16 plus per share were not in any way normal events. Hull council still held the majority of stock and as with all supply and demand when there is a shortage the price goes up. It was also rumoured that Sky at that time were looking at working with KCOM but that never happened from what I remember. Then out of the blue Hull council sold out to build a stadium flooding the market with shares and the price collapsed back to something considered more normal. All of this was nothing to do with Kcom. Once the price settled it offered exceptional value. A share for under a quid returning 6 pence per annum. That was up to the last payout lol. Now they are probably the only telecoms business that by the turn of this year will be offering fast fibre right to the door of the whole catchment area they operate in.That is why people still hold this share. And as Debs says life is full of surprises. Growth potential and diversification attract interest from all kinds of investors.
So? Does anyone know anything? The SP is going off the clock in growth speed. A cut in divi and a land slide in share price only 6 weeks ago? and now over 71. I know the up take on fibre is above expectations and the roll out is on target for completion to the whole catchment area by March but current SP movement tells me either panic set in that was without foundation adversely impacting the SP or somethings in the wind.
Yes me too Truby. I cant decide if I should increase or just hold. I just hope as you say there is honesty now from the board, I cant help but think the last 5 years have had false promise and disappointing actual results time after time always with excuses on the day. I wondered why the last Finance Director jumped so quickly and I think we all know now.
Call me an old sceptic but ........New CEO takes over wants to make a name for himself! Kcom has stalled for a number of years and churned false promises year after year only to have excuses from Bill Halibut when results arrive. You also have to ask why such a high dividend on a low share price in the last of his years. Would it not have made sense to lower the divi Andre invest in the business offering a more realistic level of reward. My guess is the new guy is realigning the business on his first issue so he can appear a hero in a few years after strengthening the business model or preparing it for a take over? I guess he would rather have new executive performance options on a lower so so he takes more in performance reward that will re gain their market value. I am amazed we’re people get their share price predictions from on here , a crystal ball perhaps? If it was that easy to predict then nothing would really change and all these business forecasting companies would never get it wrong !! I think in all seriousness it’s a poor show when Kcom can’t update their investors by e mail when declaring news like this and you have to find out why the so has gone south for yourself. I am hoping for some great new things from the new CEO and it really is what Kcom now needs!
yes that's possible. good point.
Yes me too. I cant get it out of my head that some one fixes KCOM share price, not in KCOM but in the stock exchange. The SP is supressed all the time no matter what the results show. 9 million shares bought ( it must be right not a glitch they came up on a report for volume at 10am) and the SP does not even move a full penny up. Very strange.
Or is it a computer glitch as there seems to be a few issues with getting info this morning and different web sites are reporting different figures. ???
Over 9 million shares purchased this morning, anyone know who or why? Is it Kcom buying for director and colleague schemes or private investors?
That's interesting Truby you make a good point. Thanks
Yes I get that and agree Graham thanks but I just cant help but think some how there is a human intervention to keep it low.
I wish someone could explain how an sp is calculated. I noticed gains in the sp on stock market opening and closing over the last 2 weeks but as always the sp drops moments after the stock exchange opens. I have an on line portfolio trading account account, and I logged in one evening half an hour after the stock market closed and my portfolio showed the live sp at 99p for a few minutes then it dropped to 96p. It was happy around £1.15 up until xmas last year then dropped. The drop was blamed on a minor hack on some of their old routers. The sp dropped 23p and it has never recovered even though the results are in line with expectation. I always wonder if someone somewhere controls KCOM s Share Price? It just frustrates me that it does not matter how good or how robust the Company performance is, they just never gain value. 4 pence divi on a share at 91p is a great return. The long term strategy of KCOM is sound and solid, so why does it never move up. Any one any ideas?
I am so put out by the comments that I have to comment. I have had Karoo for years and I live in Brough out side of hull. I am on light stream fibre and its terrific, never goes down and with speeds out of this world. I have contacted the tech support on a few occasions and found them exceptional. Some Hull people think they are missing out on something but some are too stupid to look outside the box at times. My daughter lives in Leconfield and can not get KC services. She signed up to Sky and the service was terrible hardly ever working and their support was at best useless. They never actually got it working and as they use BT lines passed it to them to sort. As for price with sky that just kept rising even though they never got it fixed, at the contract end she left sky for BT. As for mobile, well were with O2 and the internet connection is at best useless on our phones being at all times snail speed. Does the person making his comments not know that although he pays KC its actually BT who maintain the local infrastructure ? I for one thank God for KC as the service and value for money they provide makes us the envy of those who can not get their service. Again the writer does not realise Hull has another provider and they are laying cables in the City as we speak. Go try them and I am sure KC will see you back after you learn your lesson.
Sorry about last posting was wrong. It said on google live feed and on the week ahead business news that a trading statement was due on the 30th Jan unless I cant find it there don't seem to be one.
The morning sees the trading statement release. Any ideas what we will get? Telecoms share values seem to be hit by the city without reason of late except BT because of their Voda expectations. I wish someone could explain to me how approx. 10 years ago when no divi was paid the sp was as is now. Now with a reasonable divi the price falls. New board members, expansion and agreed higher borrowing levels approved to expand...........some one must know why. Investment houses agree an sp over the £1.......I don't get it...anyone out there who can give us a clue?
I too live in the Hull area. I have the fibre broadband. It is terrific. Fast and never lets me down. In house gamming and the TV streaming off the connection it is great. I have been with KC for years and would never change. The customer service is the best I have ever encountered. I guess you must have an issue with them but your opinions are not shared.
When connecting to the wireless router on fibre it gives 5G access. when I asked why and what did it mean, I was told its for a later date wait and see. .....Didn't know there was a 5G, anyone enlighten me?
Well today KCOM installed my fibre broad band,,,,WOW . I am supposed to get speeds of 75 but actually getting 87. Its called light speed and wow isn't it just that its brilliant. There is now a waiting list to get connected due to word of mouth and the scramble to get on board, every day another neighbour is being connected. I can relate to the point made in the statement about the take up being ahead of expectations. I have never seen anything like it. KCOM just go from strength to strength. I have to say also the technical support line that's free with the package is just great too. I simply can not understand why the sp stays below the pound mark.
I find it interesting that no one is saying what great news the under lying figures really are. This financial year was the first year that KCOM were not having to drag Hull City Council along after they awarded their contract to another Company for the first time...freedom indeed from their historic mill stone.. On a stronger note from the statement do we all think an expansions on the cards or diversification perhaps ? One things for sure they have turned a lot of heads today reading the reviews.
