Hi Lemmyaquid
Thank you for your encouragement and support, and for sharing your experiences of this difficult issue. I was sorry to read about your sad losses too. Take care.
Hey Denzal! Thanks for your supportive comments. I'm sorry to hear that you too have sadly lost family and a friend due to suicide. Take care.
Sorry this is a delayed response to earlier posts, but I have only just been able to have a break and catch up with all the Board chat.
This is in response to an earlier post from Bobcat, and also to those who then continued chatting about the subject along similar lines.
I am a QBT LTH who rarely posts but reads the board daily.
I can understand people getting caught up in the excitement of this good news but all of us as posters need to be mindful of the impact of what we say may have on others.
I mean no disrespect to you Bobcat, or the others who continued the theme, and I don't know any of you.
But in my view there is absolutely nothing funny about making a "joke" about someone killing themselves by jumping off the Eiffel Tower.
Please try to think about what other people may have been through before posting "jokes" about committing suicide.
Tragically I lost both my brother and a good friend to suicide, both of whom jumped to their deaths from high places.
I am sure you didn't intend to upset anyone so please don't feel bad about this, but if you could be more thoughtful in future before posting comments like that it would be much appreciated, thank you.
I sincerely wish you all well.

Hi Addison
Yes, it's always hard to know whether to cash in on "jam today", or hold on in the hope of gaining more "jam tomorrow"!
Over the last few months I have not cashed in really quite small profits on some of my small SIPP investments, in the hope of bigger gains later. And time and again I have watched these minor gains dissolve into losses that I have yet to regain. So I'm (slowly!) learning it may be wiser to adopt a "little and often" approach to profit taking...but we are all different.
Regarding actual BTC and ETH, I bought some fractional shares in coins via Coinshare a while ago (before the FCA "kindly" banned UK trading to protect us vulnerable PIs). It's currently worth roughly 10% of my SIPP, but I took out my original investment when prices were much higher, so I feel very fortunate to now have all my actual crypto holding as a free ride. This makes it easier for me now as I don't have the worry about deciding when to recoup my original capital.
Good luck with whatever you decide...we all hope that in time we will be comfortably "quids in" with QBT.

Morning all
For another share I am invested in (GGP), I am a regular reader of bulletin boards as I find the information interesting and the range of opinions helpful. I seldom post though, partly due to time and partly because I am far less experienced/knowledgeable than others so often cannot usefully add anything.
QBT is similar for me. I have been invested in QBT for a little while now and am a regular reader of this BB, but this is the first time I have posted anything. It's just meant as a light-hearted view to hopefully give you a smile :)
It seems to me that all the discussion about whether or not anything material released in an RNS item after the AGM may have a positive or negative impact on the sp is, itself, rather....quantum!!
We could get good news and an increase in sp, or bad news and a decrease in sp, or a 'superposition' of both some good news and some bad news....and who knows what would happen to the sp then!

Hi Sprout etc.
I was born in Folkestone and was blessed to have a very happy family life growing up there. I then had a few periods living away with Uni (twice) and work, living back in Folkestone in between. Have lived away for some years now since getting married, but I love Folkestone and would happily move back if possible.
Many happy memories of going on the Leas Cliff Railway, and glorious summer childhood days spent at the Rotunda (remember the Slippery Dip and Waltzer?!)
Back with the shiny yellow stuff, Folkestone was put on the map with the 2014 art project which buried lots of small bars of gold bullion in the harbour:

Great reading about all your wonderful memories / experiences of the Vulcan, and other things too. It's a beautiful aircraft, and I always appreciated seeing the one at RAF Duxford air museum.
Where I live in Kent I don’t get to see the Vulcan(!!), but I am blessed to live under the flight path (not nearby though!) for one of the few remaining flying Spitfires (which is very likely to be part of the flypast for Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee celebrations).
Whenever I see the Spitfire fly over, and hear the iconic roar of the Merlin engine, I really do feel grateful to be able to witness this amazing, historic aircraft.

It would be most remiss of me, with my user name, not to make a small contribution to this jovial fruit 'n' veg thread!
So I'm just waiting for someone to comment about the Eastern Brassica at Haveiron :)
Belated Happy New Year all

Hi Glasto
Thanks for the bit of festive fun. I wish you and all GGPers a (belated!) Happy Christmas, and a peaceful and blessed New Year.
This is just an absolute punt, based on nothing more than taking a fun guess, but here goes:

End 2022
Guessing at least one fully owned GGP prospect comes good....

Hi Speedy (and Corradus)
As always, thanks for the helpful information and opinions. I have a modest amount of my limited portfolio in PHSP so it is helpful to read your cautionary views.
If you don't mind, please could I ask for your thoughts about this.
With an ETF like PHSP, as you point out someone cannot take physical delivery of the commodity. For a SIPP, do you know if it is possible to buy and hold the actual physical commodity itself (eg 5 gold Britannias or a small bullion bar) which gives the person genuine ownership of the asset, rather than just 'ownership' of the underlying commodity value in an ETF?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Many thanks and ATB

Hi Sand and Jerry
Thanks, some food for thought there. It would be interesting to consider also how the current ag/au prices compare to the longer term averages, rather than (as Jerry points out) just focussing on the historic lows and highs.
Of course the "average" prices can be calculated in several ways so even then still plenty of scope for differing interpretations and opinions!

Hi Frank
Thanks for the interesting article. I remember reading about something similar back in the mid-90s when I was doing my MSc degree at Imperial College.
I read about the delightfully-named "sludge melting" process that could be used following wastewater treatment to extract gold and turn it into .........jewellery!!!

Hi
My modest investment funds are limited to a small SIPP from a previous job.
GGP is my single largest investment, roughly 40% of total. First got in sub 14p but currently underwater so long term hold!
Crypto accounts for roughly 15%, split between BTC and ETH. Bought bitcoin sub $10k, and fairly recently rebalanced portfolio to reduce crypto holding to 15% following fairly recent BTC high around $60k. In fortunate position now that entire remaining crypto holding is pure profit so will never be out of pocket even if crashes to zero. To be totally honest, definitely more luck than shrewd investment wisdom though!
Then got bit under 10% in speculative punts on other juniors/explorers/those with PM interests (GUN, POW).
Also a few very minor diversifying investments (PM, FTSE tracker, green hydrogen).
This currently leaves bit under 30% cash for trading/investment when decide.
Probably quite an unusual portfolio which is not specifically planned and traditionally balanced. But I keep trying and learning, and greatly appreciate all the wisdom and useful contributions shared on this BB.

Hi all
An interesting discussion with some creative suggestions :)
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find what "Karlajartu" means. But I have discovered what "Martu" is:
www.wdlac.com.au/martu
Apparently it means "person" or "one of us".
I particularly like the latter definition as it suggests a sense of togetherness and belonging....perhaps a way of viewing NCM and GGP working positively with the native Australians?

Sounds like a helpful watch to stay updated, and particularly at the moment with so much change imminent!
Will try to have a look when I can.

Hi all
I found this interesting article yesterday:
www.24hgold.com/francais/contributor.aspx?article=2838534682G10020&contributor=Missing+and+fractional+gold
Although it is quite old now (October 2009), it provides a very helpful and clear explanation of the important differences between allocated (physical) gold and unallocated (paper/imaginary) gold.
It also demonstrates just how corrupt and manipulated the gold market is. The data are out of date now, but back in 2009 for the daily London "over the counter" (OTC) gold market, the article estimated that (as a minimum) each ounce of (unallocated) gold sold had at least four owners!!
This also shows why, in my opinion, we should be so grateful to Speedy for his tireless and prolonged efforts on this BB to constantly warn us of the dangers of unallocated/paper gold and advocacy of holding physical gold (and associated shares like GGP) instead.
