ME countries use oil prices as an economic/political tool, there are no private companies and the government have the final say in pricing.

US/Russia also dictate the price by having a final say in what happens in board rooms of Exxon, Rosneft ....., for their own agenda as in 2014 when US asked the gulf states and shale to flood the market with oil that started the downward spiral of oil price.

Inept to think that oil is just another commodity like orange juice.

As private investors we have a choice, we can actively do things to protect our investment against likes of Odey, such as subscribing to commission free online brokers (there are many now) and buy a few shares but often or just locking-in your holding so it will not be accessible for "lending" and of course there is the social media to publicise the companies/individuals whose actions are at best unethical and at worst .....

OR we can come here and moan about shorters.
