If a listed retailer has rent free period agreements with landlords that materially effect their performance they have to declare their in their annual report. It ain't optional.

There is nothing calamitous in the CEOs statement unless you were short B&M. Debt down, free cash flow up, leverage down and now within guidance. Profitability in the middle of guidance. Back to basics progressing.

Because 3i is a private equity firm and not a retailer. If you read through their accounts there are pages explaining how basically they are marking their own homework and those profit figures you are quoting don't follow standard accounting practices.

Have been invested in 3i previously and got stung by the enormous valuations then "oh crap we had to sell those companies at a fraction of what we guestimated they were worth. Whoops!".

Operating cash profit almost halved. Even though their self valuation went up 👍.

Wages is always a massive part of a retail business and it's ability to price competitively.

Sadly made necessary by government repeatedly jacking up minimum wage by above inflation (and of course employer NI contributions).

B&M been going through some problems, hence the new CEO and Back to Basics. One of the basics is keeping costs under control in a tight margin business. They can't control the minimum wage hikes, so got to look elsewhere, not ideal but not much is ideal in UK economy at the moment 🤷‍♂️

The B&M chairman is ahead of Home Bargains on the deals by the looks of it. B&M certainly has the odd bit of tatt, but there wasn't a single deal on Home Bargains that didn't scream Temu reject
