There is something very unpleasant about this Muddy Waters. Was there not a jazz musician with the name? Also it seems a poor show to target a company from a nother country. Usually these things don't cross borders.

I am not sure I entirely agree. The LSE certainly specialises in teaching economics. There seem to be plenty of students who read PPE. Certainly the independent schools teach history. Of course from what view point so often written by the victors.
In Italy where I live history is taken seriously, economics is a common topic although sadly the Italian economy is a shambles. There are no red top newspapers and serious conversations on tv unlike anything in UK.

In Germany they have oly been teaching the history of fascism and Nazism for 5 or 6 years. There is still a Mussolini family member in the Italian parliament. Certainly Italians like talking about politics. Their mps all have an official car, 2 if a minister. Pay is huge and continues for life apparently.

That is a very good question! I think the answer must be yes. the thing that strikes me is for how long had this bear attack been predicated. It is big potatoes so I think must have been considered for sometime even months.

Don't give up. Regulation is vital. I worked for Lloyds Bank Chief Inspectors Dept for 5 years. We did audits and fraud investigation.We had one case of stealing the pretty cash £13 but the investigation found much more. I think it is scandalous that no one was jailed in the UK over the banking scandal The figure in USA was over 100

The chart looks most peculiar with a long straight line. Several other counters I am following are the same. Could there have been a computer problem with the exchange this afternoon. Anyone know ?

PS You should be happier when the company has the dual listing in USA which will be stricter than AIM here.

You are entitled to your opinion and I fully respect it without agreeing with it. On a factual point AIM shares most certainly are not regulated by the FCA which is involved with Financial Advisers, banks etc in consort with PRA and B of E etc. AIM shares are regulated by a dedicated team of lawyers, accountants etc at the London Stock Exchange. However as I said earlier if you are a member of a pension scheme it is highly probable that shorting will have been used for insurance. ie hedging bets.

True. Another point is that pension providers like legal & general will short or borrow stock as an insurance. eg hedging their bets. Many people disapprove of it and I seem to recall Trump banned it for a while in financial services companies. But it has been around since time immemorial and if you allow going long the corollary must apply.

Surely when shares are borrowed they are not sold by definition. A premium is paid to the lemder. . It is very dangerous to go short in a big way as theoretically the sky is the limit on losses. Whereas going long the worst you can lose is your stake.
