Couldn't agree more StopAnimalAgri. Despite the current macroeconomic climate I would have expected to see more interest from the market. The general trend is moving in the right direction with the approval for sale of Upside Food and Goodmeat in the US. Some of our portfolio companies won't be far behind (Meatable, Super Meat, BluNalu, Mosa Meats). Solar Foods first production facility comes online early next year. Ground has been broken on Liberation Labs first facility, which for me is a fantastic investment. Whatever happens in the space with our portfolio companies, more modern fermentation capacity is needed and liberation labs provides just that. Not only that, we have large equity share so can expect to see a decent return.
At this SP it's a bargain.
I'm not sure you can say there are too many or the market is saturated, when no one is on the market yet? We're a long way away from even taking a 1% market share (of total meat sales) let alone saturating the market. The size of the market in the US alone is enormous!
Agreed, there's little chance at the moment of portfolio companies being bought, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to need new funding rounds (allbeit harder in the current climate).
Why is pre-Nov relevant? SP has taken a long slow dive. Who do you expect to be still in profit at current SP?
Why 8p particularly?
Super puzzled why people commenting on here have no vested interest in the company that they’re slating? Come on guys, surely you’ve got better things to do with your life than come on here and pretend like you know what you’re talking about when you’ve got no skin in the game?! It’s getting pretty dull - IMO!
Just out of interest Tropica_Ape, how many shares do you hold? You've been extremely negative of the ANIC set up, which is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just strikes me as odd that someone with such negative views would invest at all in a company they didn't like?
What substandard performance? Exactly how are you expecting the management of ANIC to control the macro economic factors at play at the moment? Sure I’d much rather we were back to trading at 200% NAV, but that’s not the current sentiment in the market. Naively criticising a management team for stock price movement when they have done nothing other than achieve underlying company growth is crazy. What exactly would you have them do RWT2? Spell it out for us. What’s your plan for getting the stock price up? What specific mistakes are the management team making that you would do differently?
Agreed Hortii, this was always a 3-5-10yr hold. As for criticism critch12321, why? What terrible performance? The underlying value of the company has increased by 25% over the course of the last tax year. There has been multiple announcements/investments since June 2022 which have also been positive, which would suggest that NAV has continued to increase further. How is that a terrible performance? As for the management fee, sure you could argue it's a little on the steep side, but ANIC represents an opportunity to get in early and invest in multiple companies that are still in their infancy. Some may not make it, but for those that do we will see large multiples on the original investment. Where else can you find that opportunity on the same scale?
Nobody is forcing anyone to invest here. If you don't like the management fee, don't buy the shares. Dead simple.
As for the portfolio companies having little to say, did you watch the Master Investor presentations? Eight excellent presentations from companies on the front line of cutting edge, disruptive technologies, all moving at an incredible pace to get their products to market. If you don't want to hold the bag on this one, why not sell off now and come back in two or three years time when 4 or 5 portfolio companies have approval and are on the market. I'd be more than happy to sell you some of the extra shares I've just picked up, but I expect they might cost somewhat more than they do today!
Why always so negative!? The underlying NAV has gone up 25% in a year, a difficult year at that. By my reckoning, if extrapolated over five years, that gives a 300% increase. Surely we’d all be happy with that sort of return? So what if the share price doesn’t currently reflect the NAV?!
Absolutely brilliant news! Some commentary in Wired:https://www.wired.co.uk/article/lab-grown-meat-approval
