There are a patch work of local markets that are dictated by various idiosyncratic factors such as whether gas arrives via a pipe or on a ship. Remember gas is a low density fuel so liquefaction and transport fees are often a far greater cost than the fuel itself. It's utter cobblers to say there is an international gas when the us/EU gas price per therm often has a 300% spread. Building loads of nuclear is actually stupid when we have tonnes and tonnes of coal beneath our feet. It would be far easier and much cheaper for our bills to build coal fired power stations exactly as the Chinese are.
