I totally agree.
Which trading platform / vehicle are you using to short? I sold 70% of my Tui shares recently for profit after being heavily into them after the RI and then averaging down to uncomfortable levels... I'd probably be better at shorting stocks than going long :-)
It worries me that Union Investment offloaded 50% of their holding a few weeks back, why would they do this?
No idea, but we will be finishing in the blue that's for sure....
Level II Console is looking promising. Double the amount of buy orders to sell!
I mentioned before on threads I recently returned from Barbados on a packed flight in and out over Easter. Tui put on 2 flights to Grantley Adams each week. I've just tried booking a flight back this summer and I cannot get a flight from STN or Gatwick until Nov 2023. Furthermore I do not seem to be able to book 4 seats for Easter next year as I get a "Sold Out" message, Interesting!
They already have wound down!

Hi iparsnip, I deal with AJ bell for SIPP. If you want to take up rights logon, Hover over ‘My account’ written at the top, which will generate a list of options. From the options brought down, click on ‘Corporate action. Click on the TUI rights event and then the first link that mentions ‘Response required’.
Scroll down and either tick the ‘take all action’ box for all the rights you wish to purchase, or enter a specific amount you want if not all. This will give you a total cost, which you will need to make sure is available before pressing the red ‘Allocate’ button. Hope this helps, you can also decline all!
Thanks Mike that’s good to know as wasn’t aware!
I’ve been able to purchase more rights as the rights are trading in the market for the duration of this event, prices have ranged from 95p to 65p (morning) for the right to buy at €5.50. Therefore I've take up the rights allocated at EUR5.55 and additional units purchased from the markets. These will then be allocated to my SIPP sometime after the 12th…..if the share price drops to below €5.50 + 65p then I’m down compared to what I will be able to purchase shares at after the 12th on the open market, complete gamble but I’m hoping these won’t drop much lower than £5.50 time will tell
I’m in the same boat Jeffrey and taken up RI today, assuming there is not a further RI down the line which I think would be outrageous given this recent debacle I’m happy to wait this out as I truly think the airlines have turned a corner. DYOR
I have bought through my pension plan so this could be the difference.
Thanks Hexam, it’s all jolly odd. I’ve taken up the Rights at 65p after selling my holding last week. I may take more up tomorrow as the rights are dropping everyday. Initially the rights were being sold through AJ Bell at 95p and have dropped 30%… I seem to be able to buy unlimited amounts of rights, but as some say the share price looks like it’s continuing to drop!
I was only initially allocated 1360 shares in the RI that I could buy, now it’s seems I can buy unlimited amount
With AJ bell I have a TUI AG DI ER 1 PRE EM account which is allowing me to buy as many shares as I like currently at a price of 0.65p ….can anyone tell me why this is and what happens to these shares after the 12th? Thanks
Keep an eye out for IAG's Q1 results on the 5th. Might be a good indicator although MM's seem to change direction with the wind. My Tui flight taken last week was packed, not a spare seat on the plane!
I think you're right about recession, how deep who knows, IAG have their Q1 results out May 5, airport passengers numbers are just below 2019. Will be interesting to see their figures.
those 1200 shares will be worth whatever price you paid for them today and fluctuate as any other share. They will not be eligible for RI as you bought them already at a discounted rate today.
The airline industry is in a much healthier place than it was when IAG were forced into their RI. TUI need to service their debt to the German Authorities and who knows what terms they received. I did sell off quite quickly my IAG shares at a profit, and there may well be people doing the same thing with TUI, however the industry is in a much healthier place than 24 months ago, so I’ll be buying and holding I think! I’m a fairly new investor in TUI so only slightly down! Good luck in whatever people decide to do.
I flew to the Caribbean yesterday with TUI and the plane was super full. I also bought the rights issue when IAG did their consolidation 18 /24 months ago cannot quite remember, what does stick in my mind, is that I was very happy to buy these shares issued at discount as they literally increased by 30% within few days. I’ll be buying my shares at discount on Thursday, and holding as my belief is that the airline industry are turning a corner. This said I’m no professional investor, so DYO research! It’s all a gamble and I can quite easily see a recession in the next 3/6 months !
