RE: Power Up -Completion of upgrade @ Ubungo III and Kinyerezi21 Feb 2022 08:05
Well, you would generally chose to perforate at the top of an oil/gas reservoir, to try and extract as much of the resource as possible, as the (water contact level) will rise to the point of perforation, as pressure is reduced as the gas is extracted. so yes they would chose in the first instance, to perforate at the top of the gas column. My suspicion is, that they hadn't counted on the reservoir being (compartmentalized) ?
So it was back to the drawing board, and they have now decided to perforate lower down the gas column.
from the Kiliwani North gas discovery RNS
"("Aminex") announces a successful result from the drilling ofKiliwani North -1 ("KN-1"), offshore Tanzania in the Nyuni/East Songo-Songolicence area. KN-1 has intersected a substantial gas column in Lower Cretaceous sandstones, the same reservoir that produces gas commercially in the neighbouringSongo-Songo gas field. Electric logging has been completed and formationpressures taken which confirm the presence of gas over a gross interval ofapproximately sixty metres."
