The price of Brent tumbled 31% to as low as $31.02 a barrel in early trading on Monday, its lowest level since February 2016. It also marked the biggest daily drop since 1991, after Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday massive discounts to its official selling prices for April and signalled an increase in its crude production to above 10 million barrel per day from the current 9.7 million. Oil prices had been already under pressure in recent weeks on worries about the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on global demand and after OPEC+ failed to agree on an extension in crude output cuts.
