Tom tbe capital used for the buy back is banked profit it's there it doesn't depend on day to day business ...it was return it to us buy summat or shate buyback if I was ivan I would of upped the divi to shate holders say another billion back to share holders and the other billion in buybacks

Or are they only allowed to buy back so may per day as a company or have they declared to buy x amount only per day as not to manipulate tbe market too much?

Tom.if they belive its under value at this low price why not double up or treble up on their buyback programme instead of waiting for it to go up to 2.90s that would make better sence that's if they belive it's going to rocket up ...but I do agree with you it does add value to the company as long as they still makes good money but if markets fall and stay low it's wasted unless they use the shares they've acquired for buying good value assets unlike xtrata
