The UK has officially banned Huawei from the UK 5G network, reversing an earlier decision to allow the Chinese company to work on 5G infrastructure.
In a statement to parliament on Tuesday, Digital and Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said UK telecoms companies would be banned from buying any Huawei 5G equipment from the end of the year. Telecoms companies must also remove all Huawei equipment already installed in the network by 2027.
